I don’t want to get it as can’t afford to be on Ssp for any length of time. I don’t come into contact with that many people really and have just been cautious when going into shops or estate agents. I get strange looks in my local as tool antiseptic wipes and was wiping my pint glass last night..

You’re lucky to have painkillers. I’ve got talksport on as well while typing up reports. It is a bit weird.

Oh yeah don’t get me wrong I’m aware there are millions of people who can’t afford to be off work even for a short period let alone a 14 + days isolation period. For every physical victim of this there will be countless people left with nothing, businesses crumbling etc.

I’m lucky that relative to most I have some savings and the business I’m in should survive this better than most. Really feel for those in a more precarious position.

You work at an undertakers?

Unbelievably defensive responses making presumptions on voting and other things because of one post. Sums up the overly aggressive response to anything mentioning Europe. As it stands I looked up up myself and you can't just permanently close borders, there are exemptions to the rules, not to mention it has to have a time limit. It can also only be issued in a state of national emergency.

Previously Hungary had attempted to change immigration rules and was prevented by European law, which was the cause of my confusion.

But apparently I'm literally Nigel Farage for posting that, bunch of cry babies. <laugh>
The fact one of those EU countries had already quarrantined half a country totally escaped your notice then?

It would have better if you’d have just admitted you were talking out of yer ****ing arse.

As this was your assertion not half an hour ago.

If I, as a British citizen, got in my car and drove to Sweden right now, they would not be able to stop me entering by law.

Sorry if this has been covered ...

There are s lot of rumours (media snd on line) that an emergency law will be passed next week banning groups of 500 or more being together.

I have no idea re the effectiveness of this measure or even if it is necessary but...

1. Most if not all non specialist schools have 500 or more people in them.

2. WTF are they going to do about rush hour?
London stations/trains and tubes are rammed every morning and evening?

The announcement last week said schools will remain open but that would directly contradict any law brought in.

Am genuinely confused

I was going to say Slovakia have already closed their border, but this will detail it better;

It's true. I can drive to the Swedish border and cross. It's common knowledge because it was announced yesterday in the news. Does that rule apply to every single member state? Hence it was a question.

I know for a fact I can cross one European border with no checks, infact, I can drive to Germany by entering Denmark. I was questioning how/why these things can change and if the Schengen area affects it, now I know you need to declare a full state of national emergency.

The sea would stop him for a start.

I live in Norway. Which is why despite @Big Ern chatting directly out of his arse, I neither voted for Brexit, the Torys, Farage, or anyone else who gives him an angry left leaning boner.

You can still travel to the South of Italy, which was the point I posed to you earlier. As per, you ignored it. As it stands, you can still travel to the south of Italy. Its the travel companies cancelling the travel, not the country.

Ive got savings though not for this ****. My business is reliant on houses selling. That dries up which it will as people will stop selling as they quite rightly wont want people coming into their homes.

At a guess and probably wrong. Schools won’t count as you won’t have 500 in one room. No idea about TFL. Still loads of businesses expecting people in who clearly could work from home.

You were suggesting you could do what you want and freely cross borders. If you read that link it proves you cannot.

  • Italy
  • Sweden
  • France
  • The Netherlands
  • Belgium
  • Spain
  • Denmark
  • Britain
  • Norway
  • Switzerland

Slovakia

Slovakia announced that it would be closing off its borders to all foreigners, except citizens of Poland. An Interior Ministry spokesperson stated that “no foreign citizens will be allowed to enter Slovakia”, adding “at the border crossings with Poland, only Polish citizens will be allowed to enter the country.”

Anyone seen the footage on social media of the Italians all singing to each other from balconies? Watched one last night where a DJ set up his decks on the balcony on top of massive speakers and they all had a rave from their balconies. One apartment block was blasting out Pavarotti numbers. It’s excellent. Can’t imagine anything like that happening here.

and finally...

Malta

Malta will only be restricting border crossings to Italy, Germany, France, Spain and Switzerland,
