I was more commenting on the political rift within Palestine itself which has made it even harder for Fatah to negotiate a peace process. I do believe people on Israels side are giving Hamas weaponry, because its giving Netanyahu a massive stick to beat Gaza with.

I fear the conflict is reaching a bloody climax and unfortunately the politics of the region are so complicated a collection of Arab nations will not support Palestine.

Btw perhaps you or @Spurlock Know this; wasn't the Zionist movement born before WW2 and seen as a fringe movement which didn't have much support?
