Pretty much my line of thinking too. This shambles of a government would probably prefer it if we didn’t all die, and are therefore letting healthcare professionals influence policy decisions which are genuinely intended to keep us alive.
I'm outside the scope of that af present as I'm not patient facing. I'm half expecting it to be widened though and am prepared for that eventuality. I'd rather not leave but if it comes to pass then I'll just swap my few weeks extra leave for a few extra quid in salary.
Here's where we are. https://nltimes.nl/2021/12/18/rutte...down-sunday-morning-vacations-still-permitted
Had my booster yesterday and not feeling too bad. Just a sore arm, mild headache and a bit of fatigue.
Well I won't be telling my Son that he can't hug his grandmother and ill still be visiting friends and family as normal.
Echoing this as I expect the majority of the country will be The only restrictions that will be followed are those that are forced - such as venues being closed
We're already down to indoor places being closed at 8pm...We never got anyway near a full reopening. Have boked to go over to the Newcastle game but that is looking very unlikely
I really don't see the need for another lockdown. Sure case numbers are rising very fast, but hospital numbers and deaths are remaining stable. Plus the booster rollout is going faster than ever so the chances of hospital numbers and deaths rising sharply will only decrease. A full scale lockdown will cause more harm than good IMO.
I honestly cannot see the need for a full lockdown . Our figures look worse , because we are being honest as a country . I have 3 very close relatives in the NHS and all say that if WE remain sensible , we will be ok compared to others . A negative of lockdown is that allegedly a big hospital in the south A&E is full of little ones that have illnesses they would normally got immune to…….
Agreed, a lockdown will be so detrimental to mental health, economy, schools. Not gonna change anything. Cases are rising as more people are testing at this time of year, I've even heard of family members asking others to test before coming round for Christmas! World's gone mad!
I had my brother ask my to do a lateral flow before going round his house. I was quite angry about it as technically a positive would mean I legally had to isolate - with a bunch of my personal items at my parents who I was visiting for the weekend but my work stuff at home. That and not being told this in advance and given a semi-pompous lecture about how I should have expected it as there are venues that require it (sure - big venues for thousands of people not small places where a max of four people will be there) Some people have indeed gone mad
Rumours on Twitter about stage 2 (from back in the spring) starting on 27th That screws the hospitality sector I can only assume there will be an evening briefing today. But it is nearly 5. Might be at 8? Maybe tomorrow ?
I don’t think that is so outrageous at all. We do LFTs before seeing anyone end ask them to do similarly. plus if you test positive you don’t immediately have to isolate, you go for a PCR. surely there’s no harm to this; if negative it makes no difference, if positive it’s better you know
Well there you go - my reaction was based on the incorrect understanding that you have to immediately isolate . I am sure I read that somewhere but clearly wherever that was written had it wrong
