People involved in the funeral business have met and asked that the government announce clear guidelines because otherwise individual funeral directors may face opposition from the bereaved if they impose restrictions. Already suggested in some countries that cremations are quick with limited attendance....and a memorial service later.

Just read something very important that I wasn't aware of, people with a fever shouldn't take Ibuprofen because it can decrease the response of the body’s immune system.
The use of Paracetamol is much safer and can be used to help lower a person's temperature.

DON'T TAKE IBUPROFEN TO TREAT CORONAVIRUS, SAY EXPERTS
"IBUPROFEN and other anti-inflammatory drugs can increase the risk for people with infectious diseases, like Covid-19.

They can interfere with how the body's immune system responds.

Experts advise people to take paracetamol instead.

Earlier this week, French ministers advised against taking ibuprofen, warning it could make your condition worse.

Prof Paul Little, from the University of Southampton, responded to the warning adding there is "sizeable" evidence that non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can increase the risk of serious complications.

Prof Ian Jones, a virologist at the University of Reading, added: "The advice relates to ibuprofen's anti-inflammatory properties, that is, it dampens down the immune system, which may slow the recovery process."

He explained that based on the evidence around SARS - which is similar to Covid-19 - the virus reduces a key enzyme in the body that helps to regulate the water and salt concentration in the blood, and is thought to be part of the pneumonia seen in extreme cases.

"Ibuprofen aggravates this while paracetamol does not," he said.

"It is recommended that people use paracetamol to reduce temperature if you are feverish."

In addition, more general side effects from ibuprofen include stomach irritation and stress on the kidneys.

The NHS states that ibuprofen is a common painkiller for kids, used to treat conditions like teething, toothache, aches and pains as well as some cold symptoms.

But, the health service warns there are some conditions when children should not be given the drug.

"Do not give ibuprofen for chickenpox unless it has been recommended by a doctor - it can cause a serious skin reaction."

Other conditions where parents should not give their children the drug include:

    • if your child has had an allergic reaction to the drug in the past

    • has asthma

    • has liver or kidney problems

    • has a health problem that means that are at increased risk of bleeding

    • has inflammatory bowel disease, such as Crohn's or ulcerative colitis

    • is small or big for their age, as a lower or higher dose might be better"

    The world has gone mad.

Just went to local supermarket to stock up for about 2-3 days food (meat and stuff). Shelves bare. Managed to get a steak and lamb for a curry and 1 beef mince for a pasta.

No pasta to go with it (I have 2 x500 penne left), not bread, no milk (UHT or fresh).

I am able to go each day (at the moment), but god help the old and infirm who may only get out once.

I do though have 96 rolls of toilet paper for the two of us and 12 cans of ravioli. I think I'll be ok.

    Mad. Just mad.

    Madness (Have I said that).

    Looney.

May become increasingly reliant on our weekly veggie box. What started out as a gesture towards healthy living and social responsibility, could become a life saver.

I've been on a low fat and sugar diet with lots of fruit and veg since being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 18 months ago. All my medical tests say that all is normal now and i'm down to almost a normal weight now too.

Lots of filtered water and exercise helps also.

I'm thankful that I had that routine BT back then now.

It is great that the EU are maintaining a grown up and mature approach to all of this.
Johnson, it is being alleged, has shown his immaturity, during a conference call with more than 60 CEOs.
The purpose of the call was to discuss how their companies could help by producing ventilators.
Johnson suggested that it could be called “Operation Last Gasp”.

I'm feeling weak and have painful joint aches but all in all I am breathing much better thanks SA. The Ventolin and Nebuliser have been brilliant. One thing I have discovered is by dissolving a few tiny menthol crystals in the water for the Nebuliser it freed up my airways by a huge amount and made my breathing so much easier.

I would recommend anyone who is concerned about possible chest problems just to go out and order a Nebuliser right away because it really does help a great deal. Might need to be quick but there are lots on eBay. Ventolin doesn't seem to help as much as I thought it would but the chest infection I have was pretty bloody grim so maybe I was expecting too much.

All the very best to everyone.

Glad to hear that you are on the mend Kaits, just a couple more questions..

Did you take any anti-biotics for the chest infection and which pain killers did you use?

I've bought a nebuliser on ebay for £15 thanks for that advice.

Can't get an appointment to see a Doctor and the way I am feeling at the moment I am hopeful that I'm not going to need it. There are going to be many more unfortunate people desperate for medical help so better that I just stay at home and get through it.

Do not use Ibuprofen. That stuff hinders our immune systems in our body from fighting the virus. Paracetamol is what you need and it's just as effective at fighting pain. I think the BBC had something about that yesterday.

Good one on getting the Nebuliser. I hope you don't need it.

Keep on fighting Kaito. Hopefully relief will be just around the corner for you.
How is the friend you take to SMS coping?
Is he in a vulnerable group and is he getting support?
