The curve they've been ahead of is deaths, excess deaths and infection rates. Patel really is the witch reincarnate.

I wonder if that figure is weighted against the number who have left and if it includes those that have delayed their departure, who are being counted as new?
I expect someone, in the know, will be on it.

Another good call by the government? It would be interesting to know if the extra we are paying is going to a middle man.

The question is do you believe a persistent liar?

Your metaphor of **** is most apt given the plethora of lies from this bunch of inept buffoons pretending to be running the country.

I'm no Tory but imagine Margaret Thatcher as PM through this crisis. I would swap her for Johnson every time.

Someone on here said earlier (think it was Fran) that what is needed is decisive leadership, regardless of how popular the decision is.

You both have mentioned Maggie and regardless of your political leanings, she was a strong leader who would make a decision and carry it out, no matter how unpopular it was as she felt it was the right thing to do. It wasn't always, but I would take that over the bumbling idiot we have. She was the type of leader who I felt never had an agenda as she didn't ever hide what she was doing.

Boris & co we just cannot trust as there is a hidden agenda to it all. He is also clueless. He is also the reason for the first time I didn't vote Tory in an election.

That said, there isn't a lot I can do other than moan about it on here, so I am going to try to not let it get me down too much.

I did like Maggie - if only because I was brought up in a very blue household and she was in charge from No7 aged 10 to aged 21, surely my most formative years in politics. If I was aged 21-32 during her 'reign' then maybe I wouldn't have liked her so much. Who knows. I have drifted more to the centre as I have got older, maybe even shifting left a few times, but the bottom line is my politics would always have me vote in a normal Tory leader. Problem is there isn't even one on the horizon, let alone what we have now. The mess we are in now with COVID & Brexit I really don't think we will recover from in my lifetime and I am just glad that my 'child' and grandchildren aren't in the UK, though they may be in a worse place.

Off topic for the non politics, politics thread, but I have always found it weird the political views of my parents. My mother was born and brought up in Mussolini's Italy, her father was killed by a British bomb, she then came to the UK and married an Indian Sikh man who ended up going to Catholic mass every week for years. She was as blue as they come and even the treasurer at the local Con club. I've often thought I am of the wrong ethnic heritage to be as right wing as I am sometimes, though I suppose I am only to the right for some things not all.

Brexit never sounded a good idea to me. Ever. I think left/right/centre it would never be a good idea unless IMO you are a total moron. Unfortunately, these morons are now in power and have not only screwed up Brexit, but are responsible for wasted millions and deaths since the COVID crisis started.

Clueless, incompetent, shameless, narcissistic, I could go on.
