Because I didnt realise how squashed it was in there till I got in (I assumed, having seen the queue outside, it was bearable inside), and having got some birthdays this week, was my only chance to do so

I’ve got my wife’s birthday this week. It’s online or nothing at all*

    * well apart from the family treat to see the silverstone circuit Xmas lights for her birthday/Christmas treat <laugh>

    * if I don’t post all day Friday, advise Northants police to start checking the country lanes around Silverstone/Towcester area for a middle aged body in a ditch.

It was as obvious an anti-vaxxer on a tube train. I could see your tin hat above the crowd.

The effects are already being felt. There has been preventable deaths due to CV-19 induced delays in treatment. I'm sadly only to well aware of that.

The Southampton General have been on the money with regards to my wife’s ongoing cancer care, but maybe that is because she was already in the system.
Having said that I know 2 people who have started chemotherapy during the pandemic, so new cases have been picked up.
I am wondering how much of this is due to patients not being able to physically visit a GP, who aren’t able to explain their symptoms and/or concerns well enough to get a face to face doctors appointment and a referral for investigative treatment.
Add in those with aches, pains and other health concerns, who would normally contact their GP but won’t during the pandemic, because they don’t want to waste the GP’s time, and we have a perfect storm for illnesses going undetected.

My mum and dad - aged 85 and 90 - are getting vaccinated on Sunday, at their local doctors surgery in Southampton.

Feel much happier now about seeing them at Christmas.

Good news but be aware the vaccine is given in two doses, three weeks apart and takes a few weeks for the body to build immunity after vaccination. Still a lot to learn about how the vaccines will work in practise. I'm in a high risk group and will get vaccinated in the new year, no date yet here in the Netherlands but I'm erring on the side of caution and keeping everyone at distance until I'm happy with the protection. It's one muted Christmas bring on the Easter bunnies.

    It is.

But now they have a normal person in charge of the country instead of a muppet, so it may be possible.
