Yeah it's by no means a certainty and a lot needs to be done before then, probably the percentage of those vulnerable is more important than the entire percentage.

Nice thing to have hope for though, not been a lot of that this year.

Suppose a lot of it comes down to storage capability given the difficulty of storing this particular one. Won't be long until there's some being done out of there.

Absolutely, and that really needs to be the message through the winter: the finish line is in sight. It's not quite the final sprint, but we gotta do everything in our power to keep people safe for the next 2-3 months, as a vaccine is being rolled out, because from about mid-Feb things *will* get better. And you just want to maximize the number of people alive to see it. And the less virus is circulating as we exit winter, the faster we can get back to things being genuinely normal.

Wouldn’t worry too much mate, there has to be an even chance all those vaccinations will be sat in a lorry park in Kent for 6 months anyway.

    I’m hoping for full stadiums!

I got a ticket for South Africa to watch some rugby, so hopefully Covid doesn’t ruin my 2021 as well!

To my knowledge the spread is pretty under control in Southampton area. Plus it’s very easy to get tested. My wife has had two and my daughter had three. All were arranged within two hours of requesting them and results in around 24hrs. I’m sure there are other areas nearby where healthcare workers have greater risk of exposure, with more testing demand and thus should get priority in vaccination.

There are difficulties about the first vaccine available....meaning that it has to be issued from hubs, rather than small surgeries. I suspect the Island will wait for the Oxford vaccine which is more suitable for GP surgeries and care homes. That means after Xmas rather than before I should think.

Not sure it's related to that. It was initially on the list to be among the first to start vaccinating but something changed early this week so will do later on now.

Lions tour or the Boks over here? My Saffer friends are very pessimistic about their chances of competing because they’ve not played internationals for so long. Personally, I think it’s a smokescreen .....
Debating about getting tickets for the Lions, but they’re SO expensive <yikes>

Lions tour. I got a ticket to the first test. Still yet to book my flight, and hoping to grab a ticket in Pretoria for the last provincial game. May just turn up and hope some desperate touts are outside.

It’s going to be an absolute war. Just hope the atmosphere is something to remember.

I was there in 2009 - amazing tour. Based on my mates comments about tickets, there won’t be many Saffers going as they consider them a rip off, so I’d be very surprised if you can’t pick one up for the last provincial game. Before you go to touts, though, go to the ticket office. In 2009 a mate of mine went to the first test in Durban expecting to pay a fortune, but picked up a decent ticket from the ticket office at face value. Lions fans always outnumber the Boks fans.
I’m still trying to make up my mind whether to go ...... difficult choice ..... don’t know what travelling might be like with or without vaccine ...... (thought I’d better mention COVID before the mods get funny ......)

Yeah, I’m a bit worried about the Covid situation and the tour being cancelled.

The 2009 tour was epic for the games, but I never went. I’ve had this tour in mind for years, followed by the 2023 World Cup. Gonna land in Johannesburg the night before the last province game. I’ll head down there to the ticket office and hopefully pick up a ticket on the day <cheers> cheers.

The main photo was Regents Street today, allegedly. If that is so, I think some people will be getting a little something extra for Christmas.
My wife and I are ordering cards for our sons and grandson from Moonpig, and they will be getting cash, via an online transfer instead of gifts. With a vaccine pending, no need to take needless risks.

For ourselves? Nothing. Like last year we are giving money to charity instead.

There must be a high level inquiry into the contract awards. Here's another example.
"THE company with the largest single Covid-related contract to date looks to be among the most questionable of the many previously unheard-of recipients of pandemic deals. US company Innova Medical Group Inc has contracts worth £496m and £138m for the “lateral flow” tests piloted in Liverpool and set to roll out under Operation Moonshot, plus student, care home and other testing programmes."
