My grandson returns to school, next week. Hopefully the school will do everything within it’s power to keep him safe, but from what is being reported, the guidance from the government is still patchy. The last I saw, WHO were still recommending that children aged 12+ should wear masks, especially if safe social distancing couldn’t be maintained. I accept that children appear less likely to catch the virus and their symptoms tend to be less severe, but very little seems to be known about whether or not they can/do pass it on to others. When schools reopened in June, there were 30 covid-19 outbreaks, affecting 121 people. 30 of those infected were children, effectively 25%. Children do need to learn and rebuild friendships with their school friends, but I hope there is a clear plan of action if there are signs of infection. https://www.thelondoneconomic.com/n...red-when-schools-last-reopened-in-june/24/08/
No, the point I was making is that people need to understand that they can't say/act however they like in a public forum, and have to consider their actions more carefully in a public setting than if they were talking to close friends/family. Taking the piss out of BLM, in a setting where you don't know who will read it, is not only childish and provocative, but also unnecessary. The conclusions you've taken from my post says a lot more about you, than about me. Anyway, enough from me, I was trying to defuse the situation not escalate it.
Thanks for replying, I wasn't trying to wind you up, if you check the last sentence I suggested it may come across in a way it wasn't intended. Not sure it says more about me either - just you left your remarks incredibly wide open, against a backdrop of taboo content. And the point of a forum is that people can say/act exactly how they like in a forum - it is a place for debate, surely? So, the point I had concerns from your post was that it is ok to say things in private, to friends/family that cant be said in a forum is not acceptable in my opinion, particularly when you reference Nothing is off limits - genuinely. I for one don't think it would be acceptable to say certain things in any forum, so I was merely trying to understand what you meant, and to let you know that maybe you didn't mean it in that way. Sorry if that upset you, or if you've had a bad day - hopefully the rest of it will be better
I never use racist humour in any situation, though I reserve the right to poke fun at some nationalities...just as I suspect some tell English jokes However, there is a distinction between a public forum and the privacy of your own home, so I see where Osvaldorama is coming from. You watch what you say in public....especially on the internet as you don't know the sex or age of the reader, but only the Spanish Inquisition would attempt to control thoughts and private conversations. As Queen Elizabeth I said.... I do not seek to know a man's soul (paraphrasing).
Exactly. I would hate to think that a saints fan of any race felt that they couldn't post on here because of people dismissing the BLM movement. It just makes sense to not belittle it in the current climate. Sorry Billy, if I came across as miserable!
Not at all Os, and I wasnt trying to upset you. I actually find it fascinating how people see things or interpret them differently, and I think that can lead to greater understanding and better communication.
Flavio Briatore has been admitted to hospital with Coronavirus, a week after saying it was clinically irrelevant. I don't wish ill on the chap, but it couldn't happen to a nicer bloke...
And seemingly after getting infected at his own nightclub, named...Billionaire. Subtlety was never his strong point; doesn't appear that it's 2020's favourite, either.
I read a story, this morning, of a 46 year old man with cancer to the bowel and liver. He underwent prolonged chemotherapy therapy treatment in order to prepare him for the removal of the tumours. Because of the danger of him catching and dying from the coronavirus, as a result of his defences being weakened by the operation, the decision was made to delay it. His latest review revealed that the number of his tumours had increased from 6 to 20, and were now inoperable, making his condition terminal. So, so sad.
The armed forces were issued with insect repellant (not Deet) early in the crisis...on the basis it was safe and might be efficacious.
On Wednesday a man was removed from a plane at Stansted by people dressed in full Hazmat suits after he boarded after receiving a text to say he was COVID positive. Unforgiveable on his part. Must have put the wind up the other passengers. Good to know everyone was on the ball, but intrigued to know how this unfolded....someone who knew he was going on holiday (or home if he was Italian) must have informed the authorities.
This is just one more reason why people can’t trust Johnson. Using camera angles to infer good social distancing when he visited the school. If it is okay for children to be sat so close together, as revealed when he left the room, why not show it?
Firstly it’s ITV, the BBC won’t show Johnson in a bad light. Secondly, absolutely yes. It absolutely should show the reality and not the fiction that the Tories keep on portraying. And it’s not inferring bad social distancing but proving it.
Sorry, I should have been clearer in what I said. I was referring to other media outlets using bad camera angles to suit their agenda (eg. the beaches during lockdown), which is considered to be ok.
Everyone drowned anyway Fats, so if we’re taking the Titanic as our model, we may as well tell the band to play on, and move the deck chairs to the after-deck.
As long as my daft mate doesn’t have to infringe his rights not to wear a mask/life jacket, we’re fine!!
