But this approach is allowed and actively encouraged lately. This silent berating is unacceptable and should be looked at, it isn't really pleasant or reasonable and the protagonists do it deliberately.

I think I'd rather be called a prick than this method.

You are quite correct that personal insults are not acceptable and I back you on that but you really have got to look at St Godders role in all of this.
It's not his political views that are being questioned, it's the continual provocation.

Chilcs, im not having a go at you, and everyone has enough on their plate, but sitting by and letting these antagonistic old ****s keep on deliberately goading people isn't on and seriously, no over reaction, but I don't want to be part of that.

If I saw that going on at work, or down the pub, I wouldn't tolerate it and Id say something and intervene, here we are helpless. And I simply don't want that in my life, particularly with everything else that's going on.

Its pretty straight forward to decide what is a personal insult though. How do you decide what goading is? It's different from one person to the next, might depend how you interpret something, and the written word is notorious for being misinterpreted. Basically impossible to police that because it's too much of a grey area.

He’s chosen Victor Meldrew as his online persona, he’s probably not like that at all in real life. But he gets everyone fizzing, including me sometimes.

Ah na I agree he's good at it. And yea it's his online persona that pisses me and others off, because he wouldn't do it in person as people wouldn't just stand there and take it.
