A disgrace. TBH, I wouldn’t want a coalition. How could you and work with and trust people who are responsible for this?
The chief constable of Northamptonshire police, Nick Adderley, has said the force will now ramp up the enforcement of coronavirus regulations. Adderley said the “three-week grace period is over”, and people in the county could now face fines or a criminal record. We’ve had examples of people sunbathing in the park, having barbecues in the park, we’ve had large gatherings of family members. To those people, I am saying: your time is up. Just how many more people have been given a life threatening illness while a three week grace period has been in operation?
I suspect that I'm just a being a cynic, but she's just a lone voice in the BBC choir. Whilst I'm a little surprised that the BBC allowed her to say what she said, they only did allow her to do so on a late night program rather than at peak viewing time. Could it be that they are using her simply to allow themselves something with which to deny claims of bias?
Careful with what you are buying .. Might be checked. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/coro...kdown-rules-flouted/ar-BB12ntvH?ocid=msedgdhp
A Daily Mail story on comments made by Stanley Johnson about his son. It includes the following little throwaway line which appears to have escaped the attention of, or avoided the anger of, the press and public - Mr Johnson snr and his second wife, Jennie are self-isolating in Devon after leaving their London home for protection against the virus. http://archive.is/GkVP8#selection-1271.0-1271.136
Thank you, Mark. That computer model thing on the BBC website was saying about minimising time spend in the supermarket as much as possible. I’m not the fastest shopper, so that was something further to think about. To be honest, when I last went, I did have a proper mooch in all areas of the shop, assuming that 6ft of distance was enough to protect me, and I was in for about an hour (I said I was slow!) But I think this is reasonable and I support the police in this. We are lucky to have very professional police in Hertfordshire. It must be a worrying time for their families as they have to go about their duty at the moment, as well as previously.
Regarding the lockdown to me if you were sun bathing or going for a walk/run normally you'd probably try to stay away from another group anyway. I mean the last thing you'd want if you were walking or running is someone on your toes or bashing you! The main idea to me seems to be to stop people standing talking to each other in big groups or just getting too close to people. I don't expect it to be toughened up unless people really flaunt the rules but think its in place for another 3/4 weeks.
The chief copper in Northants seems a eager fascist, looking in shopping for unecessary items!! If the supermarket sells it, so what ,long as people keep their distance etc I don't see the issue . I'm far more concerned with workplaces, non essential work ,folk mixing all over, lack of hygiene, coercive employers ,these are important things not the type of crap in a shopping basket !!
Wasn't looking for a pat on the back and I know most here would have done the same but it did make me realise that with few people about on the streets and someone has an accident for a nasty turn they might not get help quickly. I was also somewhat surprised at the "we don't want to know" attitude of the local doctor & minor injury unit and their expectation that a stranger should continue to help this lady.
Yes ,that doesn't bode well, it's almost like only Covid response ,all other treatment off the menu ....
Yes I do agree with that. And having police in the checking up on people will increase numbers leading to less distancing!
On the form I have to complete before leaving home I have to put in the time. Twenty minutes from home to the supermarket, half an hour to get what I need, twenty minutes to get home again. If I was out for several hours I would have not just gone out for essentials. €135 certainly helps you to focus the mind. Tonight Raab said people should " think about going out". To my mind that is rather flabby. There is a clear set of rules here, and the police can enforce them. Different forces in the UK will have different interpretations on what they can or should do. It just doesn't seem precise enough as to what you can do or not.
I agree with everything you say, but it would serve as a warning to someone like me who was happy to get out of the house and have a good old wander around the supermarket. If that computer model is accurate and the advice that came with it, we need to minimise time spent in the shop as much as possible. So my comparing and trying to match a pair of cushion covers with a new condiment set might have been ‘unnecessary’. (That didn’t happen, btw )
