Rats leaving the sinking ship? Long standing Tory donor Iain Anderson, friend of Liz Truss and Michael Gove - and BoJo's business champion - has quit the Tories and is switching his support to Labour - “It’s not the party it used to be — I can’t defend it” No doubt more to follow... https://archive.is/XERTv
"Brexit is finally dead – and the Tory party will soon suffer the same fate" So screams the headline, not from the Guardian or Mirror, but the Telegraph no less. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/02/13/brexit-finally-dead-tory-party-will-soon-suffer-fate/ The author of this piece is Sherelle Jacobs, a "rising star' in the Tory party, and a supporter of Brexit.
Coach passengers returning to the UK are facing waits of more than six hours at the border in Calais. Ferry operator P&O has advised passengers to use the toilet before arriving and to come prepared with refreshments. DFDS are offering similar advice. Border Force staff in Calais, Dunkirk, Dover and the Coquelles Channel Tunnel terminal are on a four-day strike over pay. All reports from the ferry operators confirm that six hour waits can be expected. The government however have a different view. "The queues at the Port of Calais today are not due to industrial action. Border Force operations there remain fluid with all booths open and no significant wait times." "Border Force and port operators are working hard to ensure all travellers have a safe and secure journey, however we have been clear those entering the UK should expect disruption during strike action. The government's first statement contradicts their second one. Just who do you believe?
A letter of complaint to the BBC regarding right wing bias on Question Time. For me, it could have mentioned more about the complete unsuitability of presenter Fiona Bruce - but I suspect the complaint will be totally ignored anyway. https://yorkshirebylines.co.uk/politics/an-open-letter-to-the-bbc/
Self-styled right-wing student Think Tank showing an amazing inability to think - apparently advocating the death penalty for those in the party they all belong to - the Tory Party. please log in to view this image
A shocking indictment of how the Tories run - and ruin - the NHS. https://archive.is/8teRz#selection-1151.58-1157.12
And now more trouble looming - 98% of junior doctors in a 77% turnout have voted in favour of striking. I wonder if the Tories will have the courage to stick to their convictions, and sack them all? If they do, I can imagine things turning nasty.
A masterclass in how to put objectionable idiots like Jonathon Gullis in their place. The odd thing is that he is supposed to be an MP - meaning that, like everyone else in the room, he really should have known the answer to his question anyway.
He's just an ignorant PoS. Looking forward to seeing him and his ilk (30p Lee; braverman; coffey (she is arguably the worst of the lot); patel) all out of a job. Including my own, Butler, whose voting record is an absolute disgrace.
This Coffey? No laughing matter I suppose - she's living proof that a little knowledge is dangerous...
Very succinctly put. This constant avoidance of responsibility seems to be one of the many hallmarks of this regime. And it’s deeply shaming to our country.
I think we should be proud that refugees - or anybody for that matter - want to come and live in the UK. It means it's a decent place (in spite of the efforts of the last 10 years to ruin it). Alternatively... There is a simple way of discouraging refugees - or anybody for that matter - from wishing to come here. Be more like North Korea. They don't seem to have a problem with refugees. Similar argument to the one proposed by Lee Arnold MP - execute murderers. Prevents them from committing more crimes. In fact - execute all criminals - same logic. (Would save a fortune in prison maintenance. We could then put all the asylum seekers in the prisons. Save even more money - although G4S might be unhappy.) Ah... that makes us sound like N. Korea. Brilliant. Kill 2 birds with one stone. I think I'll join the Conservatives - they need insightful thinkers like me.
