And the 10 year old girl was refused settled status because she doesn't have a bank account.<doh>

For me, this Priti well confirms that there is an idiot in charge at the Home Office.

"UK Govt tells civil servants to stop referring to Scotland & Wales as “countries”. Civil service & diplomats are to refer to the UK as “one country” in future communications." The ‘Union Unit’ under Boris Johnson’s direct command wants to ensure the end of the phrase “constituent countries” in future.

This should be interesting when it comes to the Six Nations rugby or international football, apart from legal documents. I thought he wanted to preserve the Union.

Where did you read that? I knew they had said it about Wales, but not about Scotland.

Looks like it came from a report in the Times, but no direct link that I can find as I have limited access to it.

It sounds as if Kent County Council has said enough with this government. Apart from having their countryside ripped up to provide lorry parks, they have now started legal proceedings against the Home Office to prevent them dumping child migrants on their already overstretched social services. The numbers crossing the Channel are now at record levels and because of Brexit the chance to return them to France has been lost. According to Patel, to start with this was the fault of the EU, then France, and now Facebook and Twitter. To think she is Watford educated. :emoticon-0101-sadsm

What's the betting that absolutely nothing will be done about this? At the very least, Gove should be forced to resign - but given that he's tipped to be BoJo's successor I can't see that happening.

Found this on Twitter, so don't really know the source. The Tory's Grand Plan - looking at the first two milestones, which have already passed and in the manner claimed, it could be an accurate prediction about what will happen on the 21st June.

Yesterday Hancock told a Commons joint committee that he wouldn't say what is going to happen on the 21st as it could destroy the impact of the announcement. Note that this is not a statement suggesting that evidence is still needed, but one saying the decision has been made, but we are not saying. It seems obvious that we don't wish to talk about things like this while the photo ops in Cornwall are taking place. The above makes sense, although I think it more likely that the Indian variant will be shown to be a larger problem than the South African one.

UK Gov. Total number of confirmed cases of Indian variant #Delta (B1.617/2) (9/6/21) has shot up 29,892 cases in last week to 42,323. Don't often see a curve looking like this.

If it were not for Delta variant we'd be storming ahead and lifting restrictions -Chris Whitty

So -Why wasn't India added to red list 2 April when Pakistan and Bangladesh were? -Why did it take another 3 weeks for India travel to kick in?

I know that it is a long time since I was in England, so perhaps someone could tell me what this means.

A lot has happened in a very short time, or perhaps that should read a lot didn't happen in a very short time. Today's data shows a 34% rise in cases, hospital admissions up 43%, and deaths up 42%. Perhaps it should be questioned who was responsible for this, the PM, his Health Secretary, or both.

It would seem that a huge scam has been carried out in Sweden by a private company giving out negative test certificates without actually testing the samples. 100,000 people who have paid around £150 each were told they were free of the virus, despite the samples being thrown in the bin.

It would seem that companies have done rather well when governments hand out contracts without having a system in place for accountability. Are checks taking place in the UK on these companies?
