He really shot himself in the foot with this. His decision to continue with the VONC was exposed as little more than political posturing by this excerpt from the Committee's report: James Hamilton's report was released on Monday - the Committee's report was released yesterday, so he has deliberately chosen to ignore their report and press ahead regardless. It's just a shame that he's not man enough to stand in his Constituency in May's election - instead he's been placed at the top of the Party's Regional List - effectively guaranteeing him a seat in Holyrood. I watched the pre-vote debate on Parliament TV and really enjoyed the sight of the Committee members squirming at what was being said about them - particularly by the leader of the Greens, Patrick Harvie. His attack on them was brutal but honest - and a joy to behold.
According to the PM this afternoon, once the pubs reopen you might have to have a vaccination certificate, or show that you have taken a Covid test before you will be allowed in. I can imagine that the police will not be too happy going round asking to see such documentation from the patrons, and the reaction in Spoons might be a joy to behold.
Following Brexit and the departure of the UK from the EU, and particularly, Mr. Johnson's so-called Tariff Free Trade Deal, we have spent our time exploring every option available to us including the possibility of relocating our operation to Southern Ireland. Unfortunately, because of the uniqueness of our operation, the complexity of the documentation is far beyond our ability and too expensive to use a Clearing Agent, most have refused the work because of the difficulties involved. It is, therefore, with great regret and sadness we have no option but to admit defeat and cease trading. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers who have supported us, particularly the many who have used our service from the beginning and have become good friends over the years. We would also like to take this opportunity to speak out to all Expats who voted for Brexit - The result of Brexit and the UK leaving Europe is that our company, and many others, will close with many people losing their jobs. We ourselves employed, 13 full and part-time members of staff. Over the past 10 years, Mouse 2 House Deliveries had become a core part of the lives of many ex-pats living in France. We are totally disheartened, dismayed, and disappointed at the number of short-sighted people who voted for Brexit, who now admit to not realising the full implications of it. One of these implications being our company having to close. Many of my English friends in the area used this company to buy food and drink items from British supermarkets. Today they received this message. This was only a small company started about ten years ago by someone who could see the desire of some to still buy their English sausages or a pork pie. There are countless companies facing the impossible situation caused by government leaving the CU and SM, and for what benefit?
Says it all really..... the lying incompetent self serving shisters who have dragged the country into this..........
Following the front page of a Sunday newspaper, can I assume that Johnson will be joining Alex Salmond in his new party?
Not sure which newspaper you're referring to, so I really can't say. However, speaking of Johnson, I think this explains him perfectly - https://www.theguardian.com/science...wsbSG5hQ44dAKd68seY3V63xqaEnH2yZHRLYC1v7Pihfk "You can’t bullshit a bullshitter' turns out to be bullshit. New research shows that those who frequently mislead others are the most likely people to be fooled themselves."
I was being careful about what I was saying BB. It is not regular reading matter for me, but was a full front page splash about Johnson having a four year long affair and handing over taxpayers money. Birds of a feather seemed to be a current theme of would be leaders.
This article sums up perfectly how England has become the weakling on the beach that is having sand kicked in its eyes. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/mar/30/biden-tariffs-brexit-britain-eu-big-tech
What a searing, unforgivable milestone Today’s ONS statistics show a staggering 150,116 people have now died of Covid. These deaths were not inevitable. Not predestined. Not all these people had to die. Imagine a full Vic seven times, all now dead. A full Wembley one and a half times cleared out. "We didn't understand what we were dealing with" says the PM. Sorry, but the PM refused to accept the advice he was given, told the country that he knew better than the experts, and now has many deaths on his hands. In the run up to Easter I am reminded of Pontius Pilate whatever you might believe around the happenings so long ago.
In an effort to understand Scottish politics better I have watched the leaders debate. From what I have seen the FM knows what she is saying, three others have made a reasonable case, but Ross is totally out of his depth. I hope he is better running the line.
He isn't. I didn't bother watching after a while - just like BBC Question Time, the audience were hand picked, and the bias gets wearing after a while - it's constant on a near-daily basis. Maybe I'm biased myself, but am surprised you think the others did well. Patrick Harvie, the Greens leader, I do have a lot of time for but am not keen at all on the other two.
Just had some awful news. Our local school, which we live two doors down from, has closed until after Easter due to a Covid outbreak. Every class bar one, the P2 class, has infected children - no word yet on the teachers though.
I haven't watched question time for years now, it is clearly rigged. I watched the debate as a complete outsider with no influence whatsoever. While I thought the FM stood above the others with the facts at her fingertips, three of the others seemed to make some good points while Ross looked like a total fool. How he can have any support is beyond me. The polls that I have seen suggest that my view is not so far away from what the population are thinking.
That is really sad BB. I don't know, and don't fully understand, but from what I read some of the testing methods for schoolchildren are being called into question about the accuracy of them. Two of my three granddaughters here have been to the local lab for tests because they have been in contact with someone who might have been in contact with someone who has had a positive test. The idea of self testing or rapid result tests has not been approved in this area.
Had to chuckle at this - after the debate, Tories apparently took to Twitter en masse with 'their own' take on how proceedings went...
