European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen 1 - 0 UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Returning to Brussels for further play tomorrow.
please log in to view this image Nottingham is in Tier 3, yet the Christmas Market was allowed to open. The scene above shows how bright some of the people are, not thinking about how it might impact on the city in a couple of weeks time. It has been closed again while the company that was allowed to open it considers how to control the numbers.
When you see the government talking about having to organize airlifts to get vaccine into the country because they anticipate ports being blocked because of Brexit, the two subjects are clearly linked.
No matter what anyone's views are on the royal family - this is simply unwarranted. Arriving in Edinburgh for an unneccessary visit is an insult to the residents there who are abiding by the restrictions. Tier 3 restrictions quite clearly prohibit unneccessary travel into or out of the city. https://news.stv.tv/scotland/william-and-kate-arrive-in-scotland-on-royal-train-tour?top
Dr Hilary Jones discussing the Covid vaccine on GMB this morning: - "It doesn’t stop her getting it and doesn’t stop her transmitting it necessarily. That's something we will discover down the line as more and more people get vaccinated." I think the Tories may have some explaining to do. https://video.twimg.com/.../640x360/peyllXUlyjXRf-Fq.mp4...
Because of the UK moving to third country status, from 1st January no one from there will allowed into the EU, apart from exceptional circumstance due to the coronavirus regulations. Apart from family and friends not appearing on the doorstep I doubt that it will affect me greatly. People in the UK are being told to prepare for no deal, but the general feeling being expressed is that apart from filling the larder people do not know what this means. I had a look around our supermarket to see just what, if anything came from the UK, and apart from the UK small shelf there was nothing, so we are not dependent on goods coming through the ports. So do you expect to see the same sort of scenes that there were last time the UK was leaving, with shopping baskets filled with strange items? There are some things such as medicines that cannot be stockpiled, and a logjam in the ports could prevent them getting through. My brother in law has sold his business because he was not willing to get involved with mountains more paperwork with 50% of his sales via the internet going to the EU. I really don't know what to believe some of the population think they will gain, but maybe someone here will have a notion.
Seems that Johnson has had some success telling people and companies to prepare. Morgan Stanley plans to move about 100 billion euros of assets to Frankfurt, the latest Wall Street bank to shift business from the U.K.
Is that a serious question Toby - I love all kinds of fish soup Turnips are ok as well but I wouldn't combine the two.
I'm a lifelong vegetarian, so no Looking forward to a fresh-fruitless January, foraging is going to be tricky in North London.
Bit disturbing to read this . Surely they can be helped out to at least provide the vaccine to those who need it most to keep them safe if nothing else. https://www.theguardian.com/society/2020/dec/11/gp-practices-england-opt-out-covid-vaccine-rollout
Looks like they've finally found a way of showing those pesky fish who's in charge... SEND IN THE NAVY!!!!! (In it's current state my money is on the fish)
