And hasn't been fully tested. I for one won't be rushing to the nearest clinic...

On 23 September I asked the government why the UK was not buying Moderna vaccine and I was told “because they won’t do a deal with anyone outside the US”. I then pointed out that a month earlier on 25 Aug EU announced it and member states bought 160m doses of it. Robert Peston.

I'm fairly certain that the rules of self-isolation don't include staying away from a comb...

It would appear that the merde and the ventilateur have met. The government will finish up in court if they cannot explain how taxpayers money, £21M, has been handed out to an individual to make contact with supposed PPE suppliers. The BBC has run the story that I knew was coming on the six o'clock news, and it is on the website.

For all those who believe we should have followed Denmark, not bothered with lockdowns, but built herd immunity, we can see from this chart how it is panning out. It is basically out of control, something that their scientists have been telling them over the past week.

Sounds like they might allow up to 4 families to mix over Christmas.

    See that ending well!

Be having another lockdown after that I guess?

It seems such weak governance IMO.... Covid could rip through families and kill people.... I as in the moderately vulnerable group...and quite fearful of mixing in such a way........

Well I know I won’t be having a proper family Christmas because I am vulnerable so rather keep safe.

Can see the extended family in safer times.

The toy shops are asking for restrictions to be removed from them, and it is not hard to see why. They are open to trade, or people like Amazon who often can sell cheaper anyway will take even more of their trade away. If they cannot open now they are pleading to be allowed to open from 2nd December, yet we are told that a return to the tier system is likely to be in place, which in areas of high infection could mean they will still be shut.
What worries me is that come the 2nd December people will think it is over, and return in their hoards to the shopping centres to stock up in the short period before Christmas. A perfect opportunity to restart the cycle all over again.

Ditto - but probably wouldn't be having one anyway. One son in Spain who wouldn't be coming over, another in Perth where tier 3 rules apply - no travel into or out of the area, and a third in Aberdeen, which at the moment is the same as us, tier 2.

This is a map of Aberdeenshire showing how affected each area is - we live in the top left area, where there are no cases at all. The red areas are the worst affected - this time last week there was just the one red area, on the east coast, but they seem to be snaking their way towards us so I wouldn't be surprised to find that we move up to tier 3 or 4 soon, meaning we won't see our son in Aberdeen either.

You might think this comes from one of the left wing newspapers, but it comes from the Daily Mail. It seems that even they can now see corruption when it is held close enough.

Would people find this acceptable I wonder?

5 day freedom over Christmas in trade for a month long lockdown which long term might put more businesses and jobs at risk.

    https://news.sky.com/story/covid-19...-for-christmas-five-day-rules-relief-12135328

I think basically the Government are trying to please people at Christmas time then put everyone back in lockdown.

People need to be careful what they wish for.

I bet the pubs and restaurants wouldn't want another lockdown!
