I think that because of the Corona situation the number of postal votes was much higher than usual Mark. These all have to be verified and checked, and many states are not allowed to count them prior to the election - they also have to be kept separate.
The large number of postal votes due to the pandemic, or so I'm led to believe, coupled with an apparent rule that counting them couldn't commence until after the polling stations had closed. That and USP not being overly efficient at delivering them in a timely manner.
Whatever he wants to do may be hindered by lack of finances. He has been calling for donations to fund his intention to fight the decision in the courts - but none too successfully it seems, as many of his backers are distancing themselves from him. Of course he could fund it himself, but I'm not sure he actually has a history of using his own money for such things.
And I guess less people to count them ? Does seem to have been a mess and of course won’t be accepted by Trump it seems. So this could go on for a while!
Biden encouraged postal voting, Trump urged voting in person. Hence the postal vote being Biden heavy. Trump has made out this is evidence of fraud. Bonehead.
I watched CNN's election coverage and it basically said the same. I guess every media outlet has a degree of bias, but whilst CNN are definitely left-leaning, I find that their reporting does tend to be facts based - unlike, for example, Fox News where the reporting is Murdoch's opinion based. Or worse, the opinion of the presenters, which shouldn't come into it at all.
Johnson has today said that he doesn't expect there to be trade negotiations anytime soon with the US under Bidon. So where next? Tommy Vietor, the former national security spokesman for Barack Obama, commenting on the prime minister’s congratulatory message to Biden, tweeted that Johnson was a “shapeshifting creep” and added: “We will never forget your racist comments about Obama and slavish devotion to Trump.” Tommy Vietor is quite likely to be one of the people in the White House shaping policy.
Reading this just ruined my evening - an utterly appalling act by Israelis. Why on earth does the world sit back and let them get away with this? https://www.commondreams.org/news/2...l&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=buffer
Money. Israel has it to spend. As has been seen in both the US and UK you don't want to let morals stop trade. There are many other large economies in the world, but it is not worth them making waves and risking some deals over small events like this. It really needs a strong UN to apply sanctions, but no one seems inclined to raise the issue too often.
Writing in the Sun he said that the part-Kenyan president had an ancestral dislike of the British empire.
I hesitate to be enthused by 'the race' for a vaccine - I'm no expert but it surely takes a lot more time to develop/properly test a safe one? Having said that, it looks like the UK may ahead in the race - with Scots set to be the guinea pigs next month. https://www.edinburghlive.co.uk/news/edinburgh-news/covid-scotland-mass-immunisation-centre-19243573
I guess we will see but might give people some hope that at least progress is being made. Seems the Government have already got an idea of who will get the vaccine first? https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/priority-groups-for-coronavirus-covid-19-vaccination-advice-from-the-jcvi-25-september-2020/jcvi-updated-interim-advice-on-priority-groups-for-covid-19-vaccination
