I wouldn't like anybody to have a false sense of security whilst visiting France, it has a real problem with what looks like a large second wave of infections.

This message board is for discussion about football first and foremost... .there are many groups discussing politics, slagging off foreigners etc etc. If you do not participate in the football threads you are better off going elsewhere

Interesting to note that whilst Spain and France are suffering a second wave which is, numerically, as high as the first, there has not been a parallel rise in deaths. Also the percentages classified as being serious cases are much less - under 1% compared to about 5% during the first wave. The 'experts' are not sure why this is happening - whether it is the case that more young people are being infected now, or whether a time lapse exists and the death figures will rise later, or that the virus is mutating into a form which is just as infectious but is less deadly. The latter case would follow that of all historical parallels - we didn't end the Spanish, Hong Kong or Asian flu epidemics through lockdowns or through innoculation but because they mutated into milder forms which blended into seasonal flu. They are still with us today.

Certainly have. I wonder why you have posted hundreds if not thousands of political posts on here?

You should join Kim Jong-UN's inner circle, you know all about stifling debate.

There have been no attempts to create discord by anyone since you announced that you were leaving SH, and there has been plenty to talk about. You are welcome to join in with thoughtful comments, but any attempt to start winding up other posters will result in another thread ban until 2021.

More cases than ever in 3 months.

Is that just because people are basically doing their own thing now - going back to school/work/not social distancing or in some cases not wearing masks in shops.

Although where I live and work most people do if they can.

My three granddaughters returned to school this last week and have to wear masks the whole day unless they are eating. The map that has been produced for here shows where the outbreaks are occurring and it is no surprise that it is in areas where people have gathered in large numbers, ie the cities and holiday resorts. You can compare similar conditions with those in the UK. The numbers here show that the amount of testing is picking up cases much earlier, and they also show that it is now the younger(under 40) who are most likely to suffer.
My little survey carried out again yesterday outside a supermarket in town showed 100% compliance with mask wearing, and we have a no incidence rate in this area.

Yes - seems to be the case.

Big cities and areas - mainly up north.

Like you say it's younger people who feel they aren't going to die so not that bothered if they get the virus.

I speak with someone who works in London and who tells me that you are likely to see more people in Harrow High Street than in Oxford Street. Tourism has all but stopped, almost 10% of the UK economy. The numbers show that about 30% of people who work in the City of London have returned to their offices, while 90%+ have returned to theirs in Paris, maybe why the numbers of infections have increased there.
Governments everywhere are desperate for people to return to work, but none more so than England where so much revolves around selling sandwiches and coffee to the workers, and hotel rooms and meals out to the visitors.
My son who lives outside Leeds, one of the areas under close watch, has not been to his office since March. He is now building an office in his back garden as he doesn't expect to ever go back to the city centre. Loads of people are like him who have discovered that they can work from home, and prefer to do so. Many banks and financial companies have also discovered that working from home has been successful. This of course creates a huge problem for the UK economy. Empty office blocks mean that rents stop. Many pension funds are investing in property that are closely tied to rental income, apart from certain MPs who are involved.
Most countries such as Germany, and to a lesser extent France still have a decent manufacturing basis that will help them out of this crisis that no one wanted, but countries that rely heavily on tourism and services are in a real pickle.

You have a weird sense of 'winding up'. Posting facts about Covid-19 on a thread about Covid-19 is quite normal in most people's worlds. This is meant to be a FORUM.

Stop trying to play the innocent SH. You know perfectly well what I was saying. Talking about Kim Jong-UN's is not a thoughtful comment, but an attempt to wind someone up.

You clearly only see what you want to see. I don't think you are cut out to be a 'moderator' at all.

I don't think that you are a respectful member of this forum. I do my best to keep you involved, but for some reason you do not wish to be involved with all of the others who contribute. Not a single moan or complaint since you said that you were leaving, and there have been hundreds of comments in those two months. I can only wonder why you do come here?

I was under the impression it was a forum about WFC and other matters. It is clear you have manipulated this forum for your own agenda. You have an unhealthy need to bash the UK whilst pretending everything in France is hunky dory, weird. No wonder many have left leaving just the clique to mutter inane 'lefty slogans' amongst themselves.

Sorry SH that you do not like your fellow posters. It is up to you entirely to decide if you wish to comment, or just spend more time lurking to see what they are talking about. If you do not want to follow the trends of the subjects being discussed just tell me and I will treat you like a child who cannot have his own way. It has been obvious over the past two months while you have been in isolation that the forum has been visited by posters who have not been around for some time, and there have been lots of interesting comments. For that reason I do not have to lead conversations, they just flow. So join in with some sensible comments that are not designed to wind up other posters or be sent back to the naughty corner again. Of course as I see from other clubs forums, members do have their accounts removed for all time, something that I have avoided doing to date.

As the captain of the forum's clique you have been instrumental in stifling debate on subjects which you disagree, many have left because of this. This inability to allow alternative views has certainly damaged the forum and is childish in extreme.

    Happy no deal Brexit.
