Agreed, but we have seen people in all four countries who hold responsible positions break the rules with some resigning and others brazen it out. Both you and I would remember when politicians were sacked as they tried to cover up their bad behaviour, but such days of expecting honesty and setting a good example seem to be no longer required.
Value of UK arts sector: £111bn a year (£13m an hour) Emergency arts funding: Italy: €245m Germany: €1bn France: €7bn Canada: £300m South Africa: £7m New Zealand: £90m Ireland: €20m Spain: €76m UK: £0 Even if you are not a great fan artistic things, you might have wanted to see some of the attractions that earn so much for the country survive.
No figures available for today yet - are they so bad that they've run out of fingers to count them with?
Despite the government being desperate for people to get spending money down the pub tomorrow, it has been reported that only one in three pubs in Newcastle city centre plan to open. It seems that landlords are not prepared for mayhem to take place, and will only reopen when they think it safe to do so. The Treasury put out an advert on social media yesterday encouraging people to get out there and spend in the pubs. It was so likely to bring about bad behaviour that it had to be removed a couple of hours after it first appeared. Beaches open, pubs open, yet the UK still has the worst infection rate and deaths mounting up anywhere in Europe. Wealth before health I think.
Yes now it is the time of the economy... a calcualted risk and people will get infected and die sadly...... I do understand the dilemma.... if only.... as i keep saying .... we had gone in earlier and stayed in longer......
I shall remain at home for the foreseeable future - I have plenty of tinnies and bottles to get through and have no intention of putting myself in potential harms way. Chip shop tonight is a different matter - gloved and masked I shall be!
Boris not a fan of cricket? Not allowed to play... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/53276717 But they can go to the the pub and watch it (quietly)
"...players should not hug one another or apply saliva to a ball." Yet footballers can - and still gob all over the pitch. Crazy logic...
I see you are 588 miles from Vicarage Road, BB. Found you! https://www.distancecalculator.net/from-watford-to-berlin
Actually, if you knock twenty miles off that, you could. It's a 9 hour 23 minute drive from my front door to The Vic. Unless I want a parking spot, when that extends to 11 hours...
An awful thought really - doctors reporting that 'recovered' Covid patients, even though testing negative, can be in a worse state than they were before recovery. I guess anyone who has had chicken pox may related to that - years after apparently beating the varicella-zoster virus, it often flares up as shingles. https://www.timesofisrael.com/its-frightening-doctors-say-half-of-cured-covid-patients-still-suffer/
More corruption being uncovered? Aventis Solutions - an employment agency with £322 in funds - won an £18.5 million contract to provide facemasks, the only company to bid.
And yet more - Ayanda Capital, a currency trading business based in Mauritius - slightly better off than Aventis Solutions with £1.83 million in funds, but awarded an eye-watering PPE contract worth £252.5 million - again the only bidder. The Senior Board Adviser of Ayanda is one Andrew Mills - somewhat suspiciously, the same Andrew Mills who is Adviser to Liz Truss' Board of Trade.
https://www.justpark.com/ I use it to all games now.... I basically hire someones drive for the game... do it to away games too... normally pay between 5 and ten quid..... You can 'search' all the available spaces when you enter date and location...... I dont do those watford multi storeys any more.....
I'm hard pressed to think of anywhere near the Vic that would have a driveway. Possibly Park Road - but the West Herts Club is there, so may as well use that, if allowed. I used to be a member years ago, but suspect they will have forgotten me by now...
