Can we once or for all stop this emotional trolling...

SH purports to want to debate.... but it is the same old same old...

No doubt I will now be the subject of some denigatory remark

    Wiki news?

You have missed her desire for France to leave the EU and her general distaste of Brussels. She wants France to withdraw from the Schengen area. She would take a very firm stance on immigration. Many of her policies are designed to appeal across the political spectrum, once elected her far right views would undoubtedly come to the fore. Her views on Brussels and immigration fits in well with the average French person, which is why she has massive support.

Her dislike of the EU and of Brussels do not mark her off as far right SH - Tony Benn was also rabidly against the EU ! Withdrawal from the EU was part of Michael Foot's manifesto and Thatcher ravaged the idea. Why does a person's stance in relation to immigration mark them off as being 'far right' as if this alone was the deciding factor. Putting this onto another level - I decide who comes into my house and who doesn't - but, once there, all guests have equal rights (and responsibilities) with myself. There is nothing inherantly far right about being sceptical about uncontrolled immigration - we need to put this idea to bed once and for all. The initial response of both the Labour Party and the trade unions to immigration in the 1950s was along the lines of 'We don't really want them here, but if they are here then they have to have equal rights with ourselves' - in effect this was along the lines of getting them into the Unions as quickly as possible.

You are rather out of date there. 12 months ago Le Pen reset her parties policies.

Marine Le Pen’s party is no longer making calls to leave the EU or abandon the euro. “The situation of isolation that we had in Europe is now over. " Rassemblement National aims to defend “localism”, which is essentially opposed to globalisation and free trade advocated by the current EU.
Another proposal is the implementation of an ecological customs barrier at the EU’s doorstep, which should make it possible to defend oneself against competing products that are less environmentally friendly.
This idea is similar to the idea of a carbon tax at the border, which is supported by several political parties, including the French right-wing party Les Républicains and Macron’s LREM.

It would appear therefore that she wishes to go against the doctrine of the Tory party. Another friend disposed of.

You must be extremely gullible to believe her temporary change in strategy is anything less than an attempt to broaden her electoral chances. Her right wing party has massive support, she is searching for ways to actually achieve power.

I'm quite happy to pitch her political stance in the part of the French political spectrum as agreed by the rest of the world, you can think otherwise.

I do not align with Marine Le Pen although she is very popular in France.

The UK public overwhelmingly rejected UK middle parties at the recent elections, your Lib Dem mates bombed. Their MP's can all still fit in a minibus along with the Green's sole MP. Perhaps she can be the driver off to McDonalds for their combined annual conferences. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I know that we have all played along with this SH. but French politics are not the theme for this thread. Neither Macron, Le Pen nor your party political jibes belong here - or at least only when they have something to do with the Corona crisis. Neither do we need your sniggering little faces at the end of posts, or your constant digging at other posters trying to get a reaction. Either grow up and treat other posters with some respect or go and take a hike.

    On a different note...
Another misleading story from the Torygraph - claiming that two thirds of the public want National Service to be brought back. Based on a survey carried out for the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association, but failing to mention who carried it out - the picture used rather strangely suggests that they want conscripts to be called up for the German army...

I wonder if this is the start of conditioning the public into acceptance of the idea?

Yes, I think it adequately represents the total lack of support in the UK for wishy washy parties. You seem to be well out of step with the rest of the UK.

Interesting - a currently-undergoing-critical-review paper by researchers at the University of Barcelona, states that traces of the novel coronavirus were found in wastewater samples in March last year.

If true, will Trump apologise to China? Will Spain be branded as it was back in 1918? Will the Catalans get their wish for independence by being kicked out of Spain as a result?

You go off track at every opportunity SH. simply to distract from the fact that you have no answers regarding Corona - others go along with it just to keep up some semblence of debate. Your constant digs at France and at all political opponents is slowly dragging a sensible debate down to the lowest possible levels - and you appear to revel only in doing that ie. destroying sensible debate.
