The BBC has seen photos of Mr Jenrick + Mr Desmond sitting at the same table at the fundraising dinner. And photos of Boris Johnson with his arm around Mr Desmond. The Conservative Party refused permission for us to publish them.

So the pictures are not very interesting, but does the government have the right to censor what material the BBC shows? Of course it has backfired as the pictures are now splashed on social media. This is news, not opinion or comment, so what right does the government have to take this standpoint?

In a further twist to this sorry tale, Nadhim Zahawi takes to the airways to try and defend Jenrick. He has only made matters worse by suggesting that if you want favours then you should go along to a Tory fund-raising dinner where you could sit next to a MP or councillor and seek help. There are proper channels to put your case, and this is not one of them.

It looks as if the Tory spin machine has come off the rails rather badly this time.

Nothing to do with coronavirus, this post should be on a political thread.

That's a relief then for you as you won't have to defend them then.

Bournemouth beach yesterday. People have taken the message from the PM on board that you are on your own.

Waiting for the second wave - blissfully unaware that, when it arrives, it won't be the one they're expecting.<doh>

I suppose that Boris will be blaming coronavirus for this -

"The pound is now an emerging-market currency in all but name according to analysts at Bank of America, who say that Brexit has turned it into a mirror of the “small and shrinking” UK economy."

"a better match with the Mexican peso than the US dollar, said Kamal Sharma, a currency analyst at BofA."

The look on his face sums him up - overgrown, bored schoolboy who hasn't a clue what is going on around him.

‘MAJOR INCIDENT’ declared in BOURNEMOUTH - pls stay away. With 1/2 million visitors in Dorset, roads are gridlocked, hindering emergency vehicles & beaches are full - with Dispersal Orders on both piers.

Time for Johnson and Hancock to get a grip and stop hiding. It certainly looks like people are using their common sense.

COVID-19 has gone down due to the efforts of everyone but is still in general circulation. If we do not follow social distancing guidance then cases will rise again. Naturally people will want to enjoy the sun but we need to do so in a way that is safe for all. Prof. Chris Whitty

So Johnson has created this situation with his desire to be seen as the person who hands out presents. What is he going to do or say now? My guess would be nothing.

Can we keep personal insults of this forum please ? That is expressed in the politest way I can do it because the thoughts behind it are very different. If you want to descend to the level of the Kindergarten in this repeated fashion can you do it somewhere else ?
