Your original post about having symptoms was on Monday SH. now, apparently, you are not contagious only 3 days later <laugh> Were you tested positive ? If so then you are considered contagious until you have another test which proves negative. The first 7 days are the most contagious period but there there is reason to believe that you are still capable of passing it on for as long as 20 days. You certainly should not be cooking for the homeless.

I had some symptoms way before I mentioned it on here. Without testing kits it is impossible to know if you have the Chinese virus or not. We have procedures in place to ensure any finished meals do not carry any potential germs. The organisers are satisfied with our precautions. Not an ideal situation but needs must.

The UK public is advised not to contact the NHS 111 unless symptoms become unmanageable. There is no doubt a huge number of people here with some symptoms without knowing if they have coronavirus or not. That is the current problem with health workers who might simply have a cold but could be working if tested negative.

Different countries appear to completely different testing criteria SH. Some countries are only testing people who have symptoms and who actually ask for the test - other countries are actively looking for cases and want to test as many people as possible, even without symptoms having appeared. Those countries which have succeeded in winning back control on this (meaning only Asian countries at the moment) know that you have to get cases as early as possible - there is little point in testing patients who contracted the disease 6-7 days previously.

Seeing that reinforces the fact that I support the government here when they are considering stopping people from the UK entering the country unless they tighten up the regulations. Today Whitbread says it is shutting down its pubs and restaurants which is a socially responsible thing to do, but while they are making such a move Wetherspoons say they will not, unless ordered to do so by the government. While we are staying at home as much as possible, I don't want to find that when I do have to go to the shops that I am next to someone who has still been spending his days in the bar.

There is no point Macron having a national lockdown if it is compromised by visitors from the UK. He has every right limiting those from the UK. We have English friends stuck in their holiday house in Northern France, probably best for them to keep away from their vast number of grandchildren.

My daughter is organising whole plane loads of PPE equipment from China. The government is picking up the £30k bill each time.

Whitty says " it is too soon to know whether the social distancing measures will work."

The evidence from Spain and Italy says it won't work. Both countries tried it and lost a couple of weeks before going into lockdown. Why does the UK think it is so different?

Not at all, just supplying much needed stock super fast. Without a UK business being involved the mostly German based multinationals would be denying us stock. These are long term contracts at usual prices not spiv rates.

This really smacks of government not knowing what to do. Remember the days when a pub shut its doors at 10.30pm promptly, while another one waited until 11.00pm and we used to leave the first one for the second one. Whitbread shuts its doors, so Wetherspoons stays open. Talk about not wanting to hurt your friends.

The UK government is taking advice from the so called medical experts. Boris no longer needs any support from Brexiteers like the Wetherspoons owner as that victory has already been won. It would help in my opinion if there was uniformity and all venues were closed.

Dump your friends as soon as they are no longer any use to you.?
I agree however that you should adopt the measures we see here.

Not at all. The PM of the UK should not show grace or favour to any particular group, Boris is doing an excellent job.

If you had even a tiny piece of knowledge about business you would realise the government are just paying the difference between urgent air freight and the normal sea freight supply. I am extremely proud of the service my daughter's company is providing to the NHS and the public.
