This is fecking madness what's going on in the supermarkets … the Government needs to tell supermarkets to ration food NOW!! Tesco in Crawley is half empty and now people are starting to panic buy bread, milk etc …. this is utter madness.... GET A FECKING GRIP PEOPLE!

and Boris is no Churchill character is he … he may be extremely intelligent but has zero street smarts!

Panic is just as infectious as an illness. I've just proved that by panic-buying a bulk order of homebrew kits to see me through as I hunker down.

    I agree.

A couple of the Indian ladies who do assembly at the small firm I work for said yesterday they were getting low on rice at home, but could not find any in the shops.
So I went early to the superstore, hoping they had put some new bags of rice on the shelves during the night - and they had.

So I bought a couple of bags, along with my daily paper and a few things I buy every morning on a work day.
But along with the few dozen other working men in hi-viz jackets who always shop there like I do early in the mornings, there were 50 more people all pushing loaded trolleys, such as you might see at lunch time on a Sunday - not 6:10am on a Tuesday

I think rationing would be a very good idea.
But it will lead to a booming black market in dodgy food at stupid prices. People who get into that should be severely sanctioned.

Old folk and others who can't get to the stores at the crack of dawn are going to go hungry. And that is unacceptable.

More shameless than our old CEO.

The world would be a better place if people lived their life with the belief of "not treating others as you would not want to be treated yourself".

    Just simple common decency.

The thoughht of deliberately conning a pensioner out of money (their shopping money or their savings) makes me feel sick.
I could never look an elderly person in the face, ask them to trust me, and then rob them like that.
People who do this have no human sympathy at all. Their lives must be so wretched.

As a result of the Coronavirus some landlords are being asked to give leeway to tenants who are suffering financially. Maybe Nimer has written to Douchatelet asking for help with the rent.

You can look up your district on the BBC website. There are 11 cases in Bromley.

If I survive this crisis but lose my job and my rented home because I get no help at all from Boris and his Toff chums, I'll vote for Sir Keir Starmer at the next General Election - and that's a guarantee.

    Talk is cheap.

We've heard talk from the Tories time and again about helping people.
Now suddenly there is a real emergency.
People are losing their jobs NOW. Not in a few months, not next year. NOW.
What use to them is an empty promise about some help in the pipeline.

A fortnight from now I wouldn't be surprised if 100,000 people are newly out of work.
Two weeks after that it could be 300,000.
Over a million by the summer.
How will they be able to claim benefits even, if all the job centres are closed?

The 'gig' economy is going to be virtually wiped out.
Will those poor people get any help? I bloody doubt it.

    Pretty much what I posted.

    Boris announced today;
    • Help for businesses
    • Help for homeowners (3 month mortgage holiday)
Casual worker? Zero hours contract? Tenant with rent to pay?
If you're any of those things you can whistle for help during this crisis. You didn't even get a mention.

The people least able to weather a cut in their income can sink or swim. The Government is too busy looking after Middle England.

You can't claim universal credit for 6 weeks. A lot of people who had secure jobs will be experiencing life at the sharp end. The political repercussions will be long-term, and are as yet unclear. I've just cancelled my holiday in the Peak District, but that's a tiny hardship compared to what some are going through, and will be going through.
