Tested positive yesterday. Felt like sh1t, but a good night's sleep has improved things somewhat. You're supposed to test yourself daily to find out when your safe to go out, but you can't get lateral flow tests for love nor money, so I suppose I'll have to book another PCR test.

Hope you're over it quickly @The Penguin

We're supposed to be regarding it as just like another strain of Flu these days.
I wouldn't mind that so much if it behaved like Flu.
But it seems COVID can surge at any time of year, unlike Flu.

And the Chinese are totally paranoid about it.
Millions locked down, vast industrial regions just stopped dead.
    Over a few thousand cases.
The same amount we seem to be recording every hour or so.

I wonder why the Chinese are paranoid over it? Maybe because they know a little bit more about it having manufactured it in the first place :emoticon-0183-swear

Totalitarian regimes are always paranoid. Goes with the territory.

Hope you are beginning to feel better @The Penguin

Infections, hospitalisations & fatalities are climbing back towards their peaks a few months ago.
Everybody do your best to stay safe.
COVID19 isn't news anymore. But thousands of NHS staff, teachers and other service providers are isolating again.

And education is still being severely disrupted.
That is something the effects of which will blight our society for decades to come.

Yeah, I'm back next week, and masked up on public transport and other enclosed spaces. The pandemic ends when the medics say so, and the health staff can have a rest, not because it's politically expedient. Everyone is sick of covid (Penguin literally so) but you can't just pretend it's gone away.

<ok> Cheers, Lardy, I'm fine. Mrs Pengy has it, she's a couple of days behind me. I'll start testing myself tomorrow. I think I caught it at the 5 Bells open mike last Wednesday- the singer whom I accompany came out with it at the same time. It's probably better to get it before the effect of the booster wears off too much.

I guess once you've seen it off, you can look on it as a booster in itself. Not fun, but you should be pretty immune for a bit.

Tested positive today, despite feeling fine. 9 or 10 days seems to be the norm, going by anecdotal evidence.

Still testing positive. Day 10 tomorrow, and according to government guidelines, after that you're probably not infectious, even if you test positive.

She’s got the job today - so happy for her and you can see the relief in her face , the NHS/ government needs to change !

Hospital numbers and total infection numbers are right back up at the peak of about 10 weeks ago.
    Be careful out there everyone.
Wash hands, keep distance, all those things. Avoid crowds if you can.

For younger healthy people this is just like Flu now. Not even as bad as that.
But for older people, pensioners and vulnerable folk, many are having to go to hospital. It's pretty grim.

Boris and Rishi receive fixed penalty notices- how will Boris wriggle out of this one? "Time to move on", "We're getting on with the job", or a new soundbite?

Personally I'm willing to put up with Boris until the war in Ukraine is over, or until the 2024 General Election - whichever comes first.
Better that than a messy leadership election and political paralysis while Putin rapes Ukraine.

But I believe Johnson's conviction for breaking rules & laws that he himself set means he no longer has the moral right to hold the office of Prime Minister. If this was peacetime I think he should resign immediately.
Johnson and Sunak should both state that they will not be running for public office again in 2024.
But I know that won't happen.

My guess is that Johnson will try to bluster it out (again) and Sunak will hope it all blows over.
Both men are far too ambitious to allow their personal dishonour to stand in the way of retaining their personal power.
Sadly, their lack of morality just rubs salt into the deep wounds of everybody who obeyed the lockdown rules even in tragic personal circumstances.
People who lost loved ones to COVID19 (or anything else during lockdown) and were unable to give them proper funerals.
People who lost relatives in care homes, who could not touch them or comfort them or even be on the premises.
People who suffered themselves to help others during the pandemic.

Johnson and Sunak insult them all, with every day they remain in power.
Drinking and partying while thousands were dying. Unforgivable.

Lying, cheating ,pocket lining cnuts the lot of them - Sunak and his wife are worth about a billion pounds between them and he tweaks the law so she doesn’t pay tax - and he apparently wants to run for the prime ministers job ffs! The worlds gone nuts !
