Good old Curbs. Concert promotor. Managerial genius. TV Pundit. Saviour of Christmas.

A Netflix film about him can't be far away.

And there we go….highest ever figure in the UK for new infections today. Over 78,000 in a DAY. Let’s hope it really is much less dangerous than delta, as at that rate and bearing in mind it will multiply, we are all in danger of getting it. So glad I’ve had my 3 jabs.
And I wonder if any of those Tory rebels are feeling a bit sheepish today ? Probably not, but don’t think they’ll be many saying now that the government got the latest restrictions wrong.

If infections are doubling every 48 hours we could see 150,000 by Friday or Saturday, and 300,000 by Tuesday next week.
    Those figures are almost unimaginable.

Even if hospitalisation is no higher than 5%, by the other side of Christmas there could be more infected people going into hospital than at any previous time.
And it's anybody's guess how many essential workers will have to isolate.
I can't see how a full lockdown can be avoided before the end of December, as a last-ditch measure to prevent the NHS collapsing.

The army will have to be out driving food lorries and fuel tankers.
Either that, or isolating on a positive test will have to be abandoned for key workers who don't actually feel ill.

Those predictions about infections doubling had better be wrong.
Hospitals in London are going to suffer horribly because of the millions of unvaccinated in the Capital.
The Government will be forced to make vaccination mandatory.

Don't panic chaps, but maybe take a look in your cupboards and top up on some tins when you're next out shopping.
We all know how quickly folks can panic, and then suddenly shop shelves are empty.

It will only take one daft newspaper headline, or one incautious news article repeated on the BBC at lunchtime, 6pm, 10pm....
We saw it with petrol stations only a couple of months ago.

The very, very last thing we need in the week before Christmas is more reporting of idiots with shopping trolleys filled with bog rolls.
But frankly I'll be amazed if we don't see it again at some point.

I very much hope that this time the supermarkets will come down hard on it straight away, with Police support if need be.
We must never again see nurses and other key workers reduced to tears because all they find is empty shelves at the end of exhausting work shifts.

All I'm suggesting is that it might be prudent to pick up a few extra tins or packets of things that will keep, during your next few shopping trips.
And as a general observation - just keep your wits about you my friends, and be aware that circumstances that seem to be nearly 'normal' can change very quickly.

Be a bit like a sensible squirrel with a few acorns set aside for a hard winter - rather than a headless chicken or a sheep following the herd.
That's the lesson of these times.

A third of Londoners haven't had a single jab. In Westminster it's 40%. Words fail me.

We're going to see a lot more of those reports of people gasping in hospital beds, imploring fellow refuseniks to get a jab.
Breathless words that will continue to fall on deaf ears.
Frankly, people whose fear of a vaccine jab is greater than their fear of what could happen to them and their family if they get seriously ill (or if the NHS is overwhelmed this winter) are seriously not paying attention.

    Wake up you muppets! <steam>

According to Boris, England is not being put into Lockdown by stealth.

    I tend to disagree.
But by the end of the year it's going to be academic I think.
It seems likely an up-front lockdown will be needed again.

Am I missing something or is it simply because of the refuseniks that the NHS is approaching breaking point? The government doesn't want to acknowledge the scale of the problem, and I believe that must be because it doesn't want to give them publicity in order to keep being fully vaccinated as the norm.

Over 88,000 today. Blimey. At the moment deaths are still going down, but there’s about a two week delay between rising cases and rising deaths normally.

Let’s all hope that we don’t see a big rise in deaths come the very start of 2022.

Football season must surely get delayed now ? Not by way of government restrictions but simply by outbreaks in the squads.

Four League One games off so far this weekend.
Now four Prem matches off this weekend as well.

How long will it be before there are more matches off than still on?

I think I heard one EFL match this week was called off because of COVID at two hours notice.
When fans had travelled hundreds of miles to watch it.
    That is poor.
Surely for that reason a match can be called off at least half a day in advance.

CORBYN ARRESTED. Piers, that is. Urging the public to "Burn MPs' offices" ie the ones who voted for the relatively mild Covid restrictions. At least if Piers is inside for Christmas the Corbyn household should be more peaceful.

Piers Corbyn is an absolute prat.

Weeks after a much loved MP was murdered in his own surgery, this wazzock calls for arson.
Give this fool some real prison time.

To be honest, you could whack on a large fine for wasting police time. Asbif they don't have enough to do without having to deal with a moron like this.
