    I'm off to Edinburgh, on the train, for a day out. I'm not a Royalist but love our history and the two things are inextricably linked. I've just reread a book on Mary Queen of Scots and the Crown Jewels that Charles receives today were worn by her ... that's a good enough reason to go for me.

    There'll be massive pomp and circumstance as well as pipe bands in the street. I wouldn't want to listen to bagpipes, at home, but there's something stirring about them in the street.

    And the Red Arrows doing a display over the city, sounds canny enough.
