Apparently Viz has come up with a top tip or a suggestion. As all the airlines are shedding staff and farmers need pickers...ready made jobs?
NHS to get back to normal routine operations in 6 weeks to me that sounds like we'll be somewhere back to normality if the NHS is
As much as I would love to agree, 6 weeks is not the time to be going back to normal. Social distancing is here for a long time, we have to keep the infection rates down and its the only way we can. The "normal" infection rate for COVID 19 is 3, meaning for every 1 person that has it 3 will be infected, the fact we have had to lockdown to get it just under 1 shows how nasty and fast this virus transmits. If we ease things to soon, we will shoot back up and be back to square 1 in no time at all. Personally I'm getting mentally prepared for social distancing to be here for the foreseeable future. Yes it will mean job loses, yes businesses will close, but the other option of 500 thousand deaths isn't worth thinking about
Combination of poverty/standard of living as well as population density. I'd imagine that the South West, East of England and East Midlands are more sparcely populated than the others
We've had 6 or 7 straight days with no new infections here in South Australia. Most people have been adhering to social distancing etc. Closing all the state borders and quarantining for 14 days at point of entry has certainly helped. There were still quite a few dickheads who went away at easter so i'm expecting a cluster or 2 within the next week
This is the big problem isn't it. "Went out to a mates, met a few people, feel great." Two weeks later. "Hi mate, how you're feeling, I feel shyte."

Tbh mate, unless there's a vaccine or a cure I won't be going into crowded pubs, etc. And I doubt everyone is that bothered either. The fact that a quarter of UK pubs have closed, since 2000, shows that not everyone will rush back.

There's a splash in one of the papers, a NHS procurement officer, had been selling PPE to private individuals/corporates on the side through his own company. Smug was posting something similar I seem to recall?
