"Britain should begin easing lockdown from Monday and 'see what happens'." Yeah, let's use the public as guinea pigs and observe the body count ... ... very scientific from a scientist.
Do people not realise the gravity of this disease? 20,000 deaths and counting. Unfortunately I think they will "experiment" with easing the restriction and after 50,000 more deaths they will say it hasn't worked and bring them back in again.
Really is scary what the Mail are suggesting, the UK numbers are still far too high to just start opening things up. We are going to start opening things gradually in Andalucia but our numbers are very small compared to the rest of Spain as a whole. As an example Madrid has over 8000 deaths so far, Catalonia over 4000 and down here in Andalucia we have had just over 1100 deaths so we are first to be given more freedom of movement but I still feel uneasy about it. We are going to be a live clinical testbed for the rest of Europe.
The momentum from the press about easing lockdown isn't helping the general public. I appreciate they have to sell papers, get hits on their websites, but in moments like we are currently in, surely they shouldn't be fanning the flames? It's a disgrace and something else that needs addressing when we finally come out of the other side of this
I can't remember a time when the press have ever benefited this country. I wouldn't have thought it would start now.
I'm just speaking generally and using these as examples. Funding is misplaced and wasted, resources lost abroad and research misguided. If a new type of ventilator can be produced so quickly then perhaps it could've been done previously. Perhaps it would be a better use of university time and funding than degrees in stand up comedy and parapsychology.
Yes, but you can't build a ventilator for Covid19 if Covid19 doesn't exist. I get your point about mis-funding, but surely it would be a bigger waste of money making treatments and vaccines for a disease that's not on earth?
In sure you're just being facetious but please tell me there's not a degree available in stand up comedy?!
That’s nowt mate my friends sons girlfriend studied 1960s pop music and I thought you have to be taking the piss but no all true
On a more serious not, the health minister, in order to make the number of PPE items delivered high, is counting a pair of gloves as two items and apparently a mop bucket now also counts as PPE. If you wrote this as in a comedy sitcom, nobody would believe it.. It may be that the UK ends up at the top of the mortality table of deaths per 1,000 of population...spin your way out of that Bonko/Cummings
Reopening the country early is like stopping your antibiotic early because you’re starting to feel better ♀️
I've seen the defence of this being that the boxes stated the number of gloves rather than the number of pairs, but why not just count the number of boxes instead? Surely they're not counting every paper towel as an individual item as well? On a separate note, I've decided to look into the possibility of becoming an MP when this is all over - I've even practiced the 2 lines to get me through this whole crisis: "We followed the science to the letter". "I can't explain what the science says, as I'm not a scientist."
I watched the latest government minister yesterday on breakfast news, Atkins I think she was called. Her answers, to every question, inevitably began with 'so' as if she'd been reading a script and rehearsing her responses. She only had 3 responses whatever the question. That's not my department The figures are being collated We followed the science The only exception was when she was asked if there would be 100,000 tests by tomorrow as promised. "I think what people are more interested in is my initiative on domestic abuse." Words fail me.
Politics is all about not being blamed for anything so as to retain your seat. It's about time that politicians the world over stood up and earned their money by actually representing their electorate rather than themselves.
