    Kids don’t understand.

If they go back, do they then have to isolate from people they currently can interact with? A child would see that as rejection, they don’t know any different.

The handling, and absolute hairbrained, unmatched ‘plan’ is a national scandal.

I read a thread the other day made up of twitter posts from around the world and how they all view the UK, and the world is watching us and the US in absolute shock.

There’s sympathy on it from Poland, Austria, Oz everywhere for ‘how we must be feeling without leadership’.

I’ll try find the link it was fascinating.

I don't understand sending reception and Year 1 children back. They don't wash their hands, they touch things they're not supposed to, hug everyone, randomly lick things, walk round with snot candles running down their chin and so on. You only have to look at how quickly nits and threadworms spread through classrooms. No idea how they think they can stop an invisible virus from spreading in primary schools.

Just been talking with my boy who is in year 6, but thanks to the peculiar system in this part of Somerset doesnt go up to the comp for two more years.

Mentioned he might be able to go back to school on 1st June and he came back straight away with "will I be able to play on the street with my friends after school and on weekends. Will I be able to visit my grandad and Nan to see them."

Now trying to find a way of explaining to him that currently he won't be able to

In desperation I asked my granddaughter if she'd still lick her fingers if I dipped them in the hottest curry paste ...

... she asked me to get some and she'd give it a try <doh>

Good to read that the furlough scheme has been extended, worryingly - as like his last announcement Sunak hasn't mentioned if the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme will be extended.

Plus we're still waiting for our grant to come in July, especially for my household with zero income coming in up till now. I just hope we do not get abandoned this time around.

    Stressful times indeed.

Looks to me like the changes to the furlough scheme is just going to lead to mass redundancies. Companies asked to support with no income still won’t be able to pay.

    Again, it needs clarity.

At today's Press conference, Bonko did not appear, I suppose the fat fool is tired after working yesterday.

Have the Tories dropped the international comparison chart, from the presentation?

Hardly surprising given it shows us in a very poor light. The world's press give the UK a right pasting, holding us up as an example of how not to handle an epidemic...despite having a number of world experts on hand as it were!

of acted earlier and they would of
saved 2000 from dying but don’t worry you lads who fell in love with Mrs Krankie last week she said it was Boris’s fault <ok>

Theres a report out today that the number of deaths in the UK from the 1st of March till the end of April is higher than the last 5 years average by just over 50,000. 36,000+ deaths have Covid-19 on the death certificate so that leaves 14,000 that could be caused by the virus or indirectly by it.
The average deaths in the UK during March and April over the 5 years is just under 100,000, this year it has been just under 150,000. These statistics come from the ONS, NRS and NISRA and I think what they show is that lockdown is causing unexpected fatalities as well as the virus.

My lad is in year 6 also. We are in lockdown until 15th June anyway due to my wife's condition. I've already said he wont be back in straight away. He's not happy as desperate to see his friends but like Smug said they will be split between classrooms, wearing masks, keeping a distance etc etc. Not sure what he will miss out on but rather he was safe at home.

My boy doesn't like school at the best of times, but is missing his mates.

Him and his best mate have been playing Minecraft and fortnite but both love riding around on their scooters and bikes and messing about making dens and stuff in the field next to ours

    Interesting, that's terrible ...

    ... 2000 people.

I thought they'd only had around 3000 in total.

That figure would mean most people could've been saved!

I think I mentioned that my 6 and 4 year old grandchildren live with us....

I have just had to endure about 8 episodes of Elves, dragons and goblins, followed by a movie about Leonardo de Vinci in cartoons finding pirate treasure...
4 year old in bed and 6 year old now playing Yoshi?

That's a third of all the deaths in Scotland. How many could we have saved across the whole of the UK if we had acted earlier?
