A poster questioned whether it was Shankly that said it yesterday, might have been Paisley? Not had chance to double check but I'm sure it was Shanks.
I think it might have been Sir Bob in fairness but either way it defo applies to this current team I remember when Robbie scored 5 on his debut in the cup and he said the first thing Ronnie Moran said to him when he came off was...you should have had 8 today son I do wonder if we treat todays players with kid gloves too much.
I don't know what has happened to Adam. His corners / free kicks for Blackpool were very dangerous. Surely he hasn't lost that ability in the space of a few months in the summer?! Kuyt is actually very good from corner and very clever. He stands on the keeper and normally doesn't get picked up then pulls out to t he 6 yard box as the corner comes in and gets a free header (goal against Everton last year is a prime example). The thing with Carrol is he doesn't want balls whipped in hard he wants them floated up so he can get a run on it. Knock it up in the air and 9/10 he'll beat his man to the ball. It just has to be away from the keeper though.
I started this thread a while ago, but it seems suitable to bring it back up tonight. So many corners yet again and no end product.
We only have Skrtel on the pitch that can get on the end of them, that's quite easy to defend against!
Not just his head either, last few games he's displayed a few nice touches & shots with his feet too... Would be interesting to see if he could do any better than Carroll if he was partnering Suarez up front...
its so true tho, dont we work on corners in training?!?! just had 2 more, one straight to the first defender and went out again, the second played short and given away immediately. sort it out!!!!
