We do need a certain amount of players who are solid all season, which Corluka could be and Naughton certainly was for Norwich last season, as opposed to players that can do well for us but when they have an off day they are bloody awful (like BAE, Defoe, and even VDV on occasion)
I was thinking of Campbell and Berbatov when I said that. Although Berba did get muted applause as did Carrick. Robbo's return receptions have been something different though. Probably the best of all time, was the return of the great Dave Mackay with Derby in the 70's. The referee had to hold up the kick off because his recpetion was still going on.
What if we sell Khumalo and he appears at WHL? Will the stunned silence that somebody was dumb enough to pay for him, then even dumber to actually play him, tear a hole in the space-time continuum?
Haha, Campbell of course! I don't even think of him ever being a Spurs player anymore, at first I even thought you meant Fraser!
Anyway, in the picture, good luck to Charlie...very good luck, I wonder if he has any idea does what Rose West is like.
You need to make the best team, not just try and fit the best players in (see: England). I think there is a fair argument that at the moment, Corluka/Lennon makes for a better team than Walker/Lennon. Not saying that Walker won't improve to make that not true, but I think Corluka is a better defender and linked better with Lennon. Walker is certainly better going forward, and that's why he is assumed to be a better choice. It's very easy to concentrate on pace and attacking ability when sometimes what you need more is solidity and a good footballing brain. I'm sorry to see him go.
Nah, Walker's improving all the time and I think he's better than Charlie already, who put in some poor performances in the last two seasons. Even if you think Corluka was better, sometimes it's best to keep the younger more talented one happy and play them to avoid United sniffing around and Chelsea putting in derisory bids.
I like Corluka and it's a shame that we couldn't have used him more sensibly last season, especially as he looks pretty comfortable at centre-half against non-Premier League competition. He seemed to decide that his time at Spurs was up as soon as Walker started ahead of him at the beginning of the season, though. I'll be looking forward to seeing how Naughton does in his place, assuming that's the way that we decide to go.
He's just making the clear out easier. Expect bids for Jenas, Bentley and GDS before he quits and takes the Spurs job. That boy has clearly played champ manager
