The salient point seems to be that Fabregas has said he doesn't want to leave Barca

Cesc has been very clever saying nothing in public, he will of course be very used to intense media speculation from his Arsenal days and being very much part of a Euro/World Cup winning national side, however I've heard from a few sources that Arsenal expected there to be further discussions on Cesc when the player returns from his Summer holiday.
Had I heard this from one or two random people I would have dismissed it as part of the silly season but the noise has been consistent and constant and from sources who can sometimes be reliable...

Where did you hear that then fella ?

It is ridiculous not to want Cesc back at Arsenal. Yes on paper we look very strong in the middle but the truth is our football is not fluent and productive as it was when he was in the team. I love Rosicky and Podolski but would you honestly have either in the team ahead of a player like Fabregas? He is available at a bargain price, would improve us significantly, and it would prevent any of our 3 title rivals interested in him from strengthening themselves.

We may have first refusal at a certain price for Fabregas but if he didn't want to rejoin Arsenal then there is **** all Arsenal could do.
Personally I don't think he would rejoin us.

I'd heard a few times that Cesc would entertain nothing until after his Summer holiday and given tonights announcement by Barca it would suggest that the players knew all along about the bosses health issues possibly suggesting Cesc wanted to see what manager came in before committing/considering his future.
All speculation I'm afraid and nothing concrete.
You never know Pep might re-appear, Messi manages to avoid jail and Cesc signs a 7 year extension....

hmm ... maybe we'll have to wait for Pep and Cesc at Arsenal one day in the future

Or we should use the money on Suarez instead, because that would be more useful long-term than some stupid nostalgia trip.

Fabregas would be a better signing for Arsenal than any striker in my opinion.

That being said, the money is there to sign BOTH and then some.

Not really. We are covered in midfield barring a DM. We only have 2 real striking options (Giroud and Podolski)

Could be right. Cesc is so ****ing brilliant, and he can make any CF look good (even Giroud). See Adebayor and the 2007-08 season.

Hi this is my first ever post- although I've actually followed this forum for a little while. I have to agree with Batmoanu and SuperJack on this. We would be really foolish to pass up on a player of Cesc's calibre. It's not about nostalgia, this is a player who at 26 is now coming into his prime and is world class. Although you could argue there are other areas of the team more in need of strengthening I don't see why this couldn't be done next summer. Bring in Cesc and Suarez now for £65-70 million and then make one big £25 million signing next summer.

hello and welcome to the forum

If there is even a slight chance of signing Cesc we should take it with both ****ing hands ! <ok>

Suarez - £50M
Cesc - £25M

We would still have £20M+ to spend on Cesar and Gustavo (if we are after them).

all arsenal war chest for transfers has to include wages for the players, therefore its not just 70 million to spend on pure transfer fees.
