Ordered a Chinese earlier in the day. The Chinese driver pulls up and walks to the door. I walked out to meet him and he started shouting, "Isolate isolate!"

I said, "Calm down mate, you're not that late. I only ordered it half an hour ago!"

Good question but not every good player costs a bomb there's thousands of footballers in this world and hidden gems waiting to be found. I just don't think Rodders is the future for the club. I guess its all about opinions.

On the Rodders front it was mentioned today that his 11 goals means he is the top scoring Spaniard in the whole of European football. So not too shabby and this is the toughest league in the world

Rodrigo has been a big success story this season. An unexpected one given his first two seasons.

Which I will credit Jesse with. My main issue with him is that I just don’t think his favoured system doesn’t work in the premier league and a lot of times we’re a hard watch.

We've been in some amazing games this season. Alot of the commentary teams comment on how good our games are. The system is not perfect by any stretch but we've been the better side in quite alot of games this season, certainly on the stats.

I get more frustrated watching us because the potential is there to be a really good side. It's the constant basic errors that bug me.

Whereas it's the constant overloads of numbers when our opponent switches play that are doing my fecking nut in.

Happened twice against Southampton (a) and nothing had been done since tactics wise to prevent it repeatedly happening again. Sorry but it's simple basics and our defenders could be the best ever but it's virtually impossible to stop conceding goals when you're always outnumbered.

Well it’s all about opinions but for me we’re nowhere near as fluent in movement with the ball because we’re so narrow a lot of the time.

True but sometimes we're so direct with our passing that the opposition don't know what's hit them...our 2 goals against West Ham being good examples.

However it's either a work in progress, not working effectively enough or doomed to failure depending on your opinion.

It's not as fluent as Bielsaball. We were spoilt.

You're right though, it is more narrow which means players have to play in tighter spaces which makes it easier to lose the ball. That's the plan though. Doesn't mean I agree with it but I understand why it's done. The emergence of Summerville and Gnonto has really enhanced this type of attack with their direct running and pace. Sinisterra is another who excels at this and the new lad Rutter is also all pace and power. We have some attacking talent now. I feel the midfield is OK but there is room for improvement. I'd like our defenders to be better one v one.

I agree to an extent though, this system isn't as easy on the eye as prime Bielsaball but then again, not much is.

i get that, but it was a similar problem under mb… if a man marker lost his duel… or we conceded possession not long after winnning it (when our full backs were bombing forward) we’d be horribly out numbered by guys streaming forward into wide open spaces

I’ve said under both marsch and bielsa we we’re a hard side to be a defender in. so i cut them some slack when they're over-run. Basically both coaches want to out-score the opposition and think best form of defence is attack… and also in marsch case that you defend in order to attack,

Having just looked back at the goals this season, we have conceded from overloads in the fashion you describe (and had a fair amount of near misses!) but it’s not as many as you might imagine. There’s been more from mistakes under no real pressure - and good old fashioned poor marking when we have loads of players in the vicinity. Whether the confidence impact/stress of our style of play leeds to jitteryness even under seemingly little pressure? Really hard to say.

In general, the football was prettier on the eye under bielsa for sure, but it’s effective when it works under marsch and both styles leads to some basketball games that are great for the neutral... but not for fans stress levels

    Thanks for your input miky.

To be honest personally I've stopped any form of comparison between when Bielsa was here and what's currently happening. So much so it's like the Marcelo era never happened and it does seem an age ago now that I think about it.

Regarding the overloads though, it's what all football coaches try to achieve attacking wise and we just seem to make it easier than any other team I've seen for that to happen.

It's Jesse way and I get that because if he played Harrison wide left and had him tracking back all the time, with similar on the right side with Summerville for example then that wouldn't be playing to his tactics and beliefs. So at the end of the day Marsche is being true to himself and playing it how he sees the game which is fair enough, just as long as he stays in the job long enough to develop and tweak his style through coaching and recruitment.

Fair points fella. All these systems have strengths and weaknesses. As we boxing fans say, styles make fights and its true in football too. Everyone goes into a match knowing the strengths and weaknesses of the opposition and trying to make sure that you impose your strengths and counter theres. But whilst he's never going to give up his beliefs... completely agree Marsch needs to keep trying to improve us defensively through probably a mix of system tweaks, coaching and recruitment. As you say... as long as he stays in the job long enough!

Are you suggesting he is going to employ some decent coaches to assist?

For a second you had me, I thought you were suggesting Jesse was going to coach them to be better :emoticon-0136-giggl
