To be fair, if someone is investing in a football club for their own personal benefit, they couldn't put the money anywhere better than into youth facilities. It gets increased funding from the FA at each level you go up and brings players not only saving expense on having to buy an entire playing squad but also income when you produce anyone half decent, leaving more available cash to find its way to your back pocket.
