Hey guys,

What is your opinion of Conte? He done terrific last season and looked like he had turned you into a real force. It looks like he has been unable to sustain it though. He hasn't added anything to your squad and looks to be getting outclassed by Pep and Jose.

Thoughts?

outclassed or outspent? Both pep and jose have spent fortunes with very little back in sales. Conte has operated on a much smaller net budget in comparison. We're where we should be. Last year he over achieved.

I wouldnt class a 3 point difference as being "outclassed" by Jose, especially given that Jose has spent a ****ing fortune to get back in to the top 4, and doesnt look anything like competing with City for the title.
City also spent a fortune, but they bought the players Pep asked for to mould the squad to his vision, simple as....and the result is success.

Conte isn't perfect, tactically he has fallen short a few times this season, but he has been royally shafted by our board, as was Jose before him, they fight him tooth and nail on every proposed signing....you can bet your ****ing back teeth that Conte never went to the board and asked to sign Peter ****ing Crouch for instance.

Bodinki hit the nail on the head, Conte is very very good, the board is very very lacking in knowledge and ambition. They think past success means they just have to keep doing the same to achieve the same results, but they,re running out of good managers and the squad is slowly but surely becoming less competitive as mediocrity creeps in.
Conte has a few faults as well, his man management is awful, his temperament suspect and a bit vindictive, and he make some terrible selectIon decisions and especially hopeless subs. Some think his selection is deliberately to reinforce his displeasure at his thin squad. maybe maybe not.
I think he's off at seasons end anyway, so yet again we'll go through another love affair for a year then dispense with the next one as usual.

Yeah Conte is going in the summer, regardless of what we achieve this season, and I cannot blame him.
If you have a board who are just constantly putting up roadblocks to impede your project, then you are going to leave.
My only concern is why the board have not realised that the problem is them and not the managers.
I mean FFS in recent years we have **** canned Jose Mourinho (twice), Carlo Ancelotti, Luiz Felipe Scolari, Rafa Benitez, some big named and bloody successful managers. The fault cannot ALL lie with them.
The club is driving them away.

So is Roman not prepared to match the spending of the Manchester clubs? He's got the money to do it...

No he isn't.
He hasn't been spending like that for at least 7 years.
Citys net spend over the last 5 season has been double that of Chelseas.

Easy to forget how much the market has changed just during Roman's time at Chelsea. The spending spree he embarked on when he bought the club and half the first team in one go would buy you one top draw player now. It's utter ridiculous.

Got some great bargains in our team now though. Paid about 25m combined for Azpi, Cahill and Courtois. Imagine what you'd get now, market is crazy!

Hazard for 30 million as well. Worth about 150 million now based on recent transfers. That's where we need to aim. Getting players on the cusp of being top class like Hazard was when we signed him. Young and hungry as well.

For as good as Sanchez is, how long will he be able to keep performing that high intensity game for in a league as competitive as the P.L?? See how quickly Rooney dropped off and his game is similar. I think Sanchez may look a very expensive luxury in a couple of years.

Dead right, plus his reputed 400 Gs a week will seriously piss of pretty much every one of his team mates and cause yet more personnel problems. Jose doesn't care, he's a 3 year man anyway and will be off before the rot sets in.
At Chelsea we ar very close to a great team, 3 short in my book,
1. the right, ie the correct midfielder, strength ,power attacking midfielder
2. A back up left back
3. A Striker . Not any striker, but one who can play with our wingers and forwards. Either that or change our formation.
IF we ever get that right, we only need to upgrade one player a year ( of top class) and keep bringing through the Ampadus and Christensens.

My opinion is that Benitez was driven away by us. He was never liked here after his Chelsea plastic fans, plastic flags remark while he was at Liverpool. Out of all of the Premiership managers he is the most genuinely loyal in my opinion, I’m full of admiration for him for how he stayed at The Barcodes when they were relegated.

true but tbh his football is as turgid as joses and contes (i.e. defensive manner and rigid).

So please no to simeone and get us somewhere on the front foot please

Interesting series of reports today about Conte and our transfer policy.
For the first time he has publicly stated exactly what myself, Bodinki and Bobby D among others has been saying for some time, what Chelsea need is 2 or 3 world class players each season, and NOT 7 or 8 mediocre players each transfer period. The spending would be about the same, the results significantly better.
Either Conte is reading our posts, or he's smarter than we gave him credit for !!!!!
