Some reports floating around that we are trying to get Connor back on loan. Now Duncan Watmore is on his feet, must be we have a physio couch that needs keeping warm.
I would be amazed if there was any truth in this. He represents something that we are trying to move away from - the overpaid lazy footballer. We are all about team ethic now where there are (with the exception of Catts and Oviedo) no overpaid players. Reintroducing highly paid players to the dressing room (although he draws his salary elsewhere now) would take us backwards IMO
I can remember when we used to sub him on after around 70 mins at a stage when we were (no doubt) chasing the game He would jog around like he'd been on the pitch from the start, rather than being the young enthusiastic player with fresh legs that we were looking for He got rich early then lost his enthusiasm
He's coming back from injury. This is from last week, he scored a spectacular goal and then gets sent off He's being linked with Boro - if Palace sign Defoe. https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/report-crystal-palace-u23s-1-1-bristol-city-u23s/ Rory Holden's free kick helped the Under 23s to a share of the points against ten-men Crystal Palace Under-23s. The young Northern Ireland forward struck the perfect set piece to fire City into a half-time lead. Connor Wickham's overhead kick levelled the scores in the second half, before the striker received his marching orders for a second bookable offence. The match at Copers Cope - Palace's training ground - saw the home side enjoy much of the play but struggled to find a way through a resilient City setup. Their pressure almost told after an hour when Levi Lumeka saw a shot blocked before Alhaji Sesay was quick to deny Joel Ward on the follow-up. Wickham made no mistake with his bicycle kick, to rescue a point for the Eagles, in front of first team manager Roy Hodgson too. But it was a moment to forget when he picked up two yellow cards in quick succession late on with the home side holding on for the point.
If fit and driven he'd be a big asset in this league. He hasn't been fit for ages - and he hasn't had the drive for even longer! Sounds like nonsensical paper talk to me
There are one or two former strikers who are doing OK at their current Clubs. Danny Graham's name seems to crop up amongst the scorers for Blackburn of late as does Frazer Campbell name at Hull. I'd be pleased to see Campbell back and he wouldn't upset the apple cart because of his personality either. But Wickham? No thanks. This squad doesn't need people who think paying £17.5K on a bottle of bubbly is a good idea!!!!
I will never begrudge people paying that for champagne. I would’ve if I had the dosh. My boss just used his old motor as a transport fir the airport. A £90k merc van done out with living room in the back. 3 massive TVs. PS4 and xbox 1. Just saying that using his champagne as a yardstick doesn’t matter to me. His”I’m better than Ronaldo” attitude is the problem
I agree with you. How he spends his earnings is entirely up to him. I just think that his choices highlight some character flaws such as the one you quote.
