Reportedly for £9million. Do you think we've missed a treat here? Never seen him play much, apart from the odd wonder goal. Heard great things about him though and would have liked to see him come.

People often say hes young and unproven at top level - but at £9million would it have been worth the gamble? Would it be worth putting in a cheeky late bid?

I can see Liverpool coming back in with another bid and nicking him.

Looks quite a prospect, but he might be better off going to Sunderland and playing regular first team football.

Pin our hopes on a punt?...mental. If money is short, its a waste of that figure, he's never going to start and we don't need him on the bench. We've got plenty on loan, plus the lad Kane sounds like he might not be too far behind him. Can't see the point really.

I don't think that's true, Lidls.

He has size and strength, but all of the opinions offered about him by professionals seem to focus on other aspects of his game.

Something tells me Sunderland haven't just bid £9m - there's probably a few millions worth of clauses should he get an England call-up or a certain number of goals/starts, plus a hefty sell-on clause thrown in, a clause which obviously wouldn't be in any deal if he signed for us or Liverpool.

In two years time, £9mm is either going to look to be the bargain of the century, or a waste of money. If he starts banging in goals, the next price will be £25-30mm. You pays your money, and you takes your chance.
