With Connolly getting crocked (hamstring?) last night, Nuggs took his chance and played well to keep a solid back four. He also acted as an excellent sweeper when Turner and Barnett went up for set pieces - all credit to him.

If Nuggs could play a final ball rather than look baffled as to what to do with it when he got anywhere near the opposition penalty area, he could be a match winner, not just a match saver.

If both fit, I'd still play Connolly for his height and goal threat, both things that Kev lacks.
 
Connolly must be a big doubt if it is a hamstring injury so Kev will get his chance for a few games.

I agree when both are fit I would go for Connolly over McNaughton.
 
Super Kev has been a tremendous servant to the club but his distribution lets him down badly. Excellent squad player for his versitility and I believe he is plugging away for a new deal at the moment. Hard working player, but prone to nosebleeds around opposition goalmouths. Good sub to have on the bench. Connolly just gets the nod for me.
 
Yes, that horrible moment just before he delivers that ball into the box(?) makes great headway and it always lets him down.
Still, done a fair job and is, as always, one of the hardest working players Cardiff have had.
Not sure how he would figure in the PL though?
 
Kev puts more pressure on defenders (theirs not ours!!!) in open play but as said, pity about the final ball. In defensive terms very few wingers get past him, e.g. the Zaha in his pocket, but his positional play and heading ability can let him down - see Peterboro at ours.

Connolly is probably a more all round defender and a real threat at set pieces. However not great at going forward down the line - gets nose bleed at half way with the ball at his feet.

Pity we can't have a clone of the best bits of both.

Connolly is better for the team as a whole though.
 
I think that's one position that'll need filling next season, Kev although a great servant is showing signs of slowing down, heven't had much chance to see Connolly so not sure if he'd have the pace required against premiership wingers
