Ginger Baker was head and shoulders the GOAT.

He was, but you know what Baker said about Bonham? That he had great technique, but couldn't swing a bag of ****. Sounds harsh, but that's actually rare praise coming from permanently angry Mr Baker.

The moral of this story is that heroin addicts have better instinctive tempo than alcoholics.

Actually spoke with Ginger on a FB on the blues music page when they asked who was the best drummer two years back. He agreed with my choice and we had a micro chat on that. Came over as a real nice geezer despite being ill.

Alan Wren for me personally. Swagger, rhythm and flair. You don’t have to smash a drum to be brilliant. Plays drums how I think Hendricks would have.
Taylor, Ringo, Watts, Bonham make up the top 5 for me personally

One post of a quote from Liam Gallagher and we’ve ended up with pages of posts about ****ing drummers.

    I’m blaming @Chief for this.

    Agree, he's an absolute master.

Matt Helders of Arctic Monkeys is also excellent.

    Dave Grohl as well.

Now you've gone too far. If anything the Beatles are underrated but over analysed - even their throwaway muck on The White album and Let It Be would be the highlight of some bands' careers. And apart from Bowie and maybe Marvin Gaye, you're hard pressed to think of many others who progressed as much in their careers. The Beach Boys? Perhaps. Certainly not The Stones - they're still playing the same music the did 55 years ago.
