Yes the fans are just happy to support mediocrity? As is the managers and board? That is one of the most BS arguments ever.
Well I do think the board and management are content and supportive of our current situation, and that's really the best they aim for, all their actions have pointed to that, that that is their main aim.
Oh yes. Despite the fact that the board wold rake in far more money from trophies they are definitely saying "Top 4? Ok. I mean its not like we don't want out club to be more successful or glamorous." Sure they don't come out and slam finishing in the Top 4 every year because their hands have probably been tied down as well, the whole stadium debt, building a self-sufficient model thing.
Agreed. Very true. They can buy the best because they can afford the best. I think they're maybe patient, hoping for big results (financially or otherwise) in the future once the debt is gone. Or, a manager restricted by not having the financial clout to compete with richer clubs. Arsenal fans are consistently among the most dissatisfied in England. So if world class players deserve better than Arsenal, how can we expect the club to sign world class players?
Sure trophies equals more money, but what's currently in place is still bringing in more than enough money. If they do want the club to be more successful and glamorous, they've given no such indication thus far. I think they're satisfied with the current prestige and image of the club as a self sustaining club generating some of the best profits in Europe, while maintaining a top 4 spot and constant place in the UCL.
this is true . you have to speculate to accumulate. Man Utd speculate seriously ...with the risk that they might not win anything even with those speculations. The board is quite happy to accumulate a smaller ( but still substantial ) amount , without speculating at all. Its just business.
err we cant . they LEAVE us , they dont COME to us. Cazorla = budget Fabregas Giroud = budget Van bastard we dont have ANY world class players now. and please , dont mention Wilshire........that would be embarassing for us both ..
I think he's pissed because the club put themselves in a position that makes it hard for them to sign world class players. And that's certainly true, we've been on a barren spell for almost a decade, recently we've only been competing to make the top 4, and then at the same we're also getting rid of our best players, that doesn't really look all that appealing to a world class player with major ambitions of silverware. Case in point is Goetze, let's say we were even in for him, and would pay the asking price and match Munich's offer, as well as match the same personal terms as Munich, we'd still have no hope in hell of getting him, because just compare Munich, to us. If you're a top top world class player, it's not a rocket science decision of which club sounds much more appealing to join. Munich have EVERYTHING Arsenal brag about, good self sustaining model, excellent world class stadium with world class facilities, and BTW their stadium was so damn good it hosted a Champions League final, a major fanbase, major history, AND THEN SUM which is actual current success.
really ? Ok , because you set out your stall to attract top players. Your club has a reputation as a serious ambitious club , determined to win things. The board give the impression that they are being cautious with spending NOW , to be able to spend big and get top players LATER . Thats a dangerous game. If you lose that reputation then a top player wanting to move to a uk club will NOT take you seriously. Once that reputation is lost , its very hard to get it back . Ask Liverpool.
