I occasionally watch ITV local news and it still seems to be transmitted from Leeds and the background pic appears to be Sheffield Midland station.
Returning to the thread origin, I think that both Grimsby and Scunthorpe will both soon become satellite clubs within our hegemony. Children born in those God forsaken parts will dream of playing for City and will also learn Hull speak at school.
Inevitably questions must already be being asked like 'Dad, I don't want to see GY v Braintree, can we go and see Hull City versus WBA?' Football's coming home and they know it.
The irony is that York's popularity has a lot to do with its old buildings. They only still exist because they were too poor at the time to replace them with decent stock, as their much more prosperous East Yorkshire neighbours did. I like York, but it's effectively a failed Mediaeval slum clearance. I do think the team and manager deserve a bit of praise too.
Hence why Kevin Phillips has today called it quits...... maybe ? But another player who has had a good career.
