Just had to come on to say well done the reds for a great result against St Pats! But what is it in the league this year that is making clubs have such random results excellent one week really poor the next. Are the players overstretched for part timers or just lazy?

They're definitely overstretched. With the wipeout of sport in December it was inevitable that there would be some fixture congestion but trying to squeeze the entire campaign into this short period before the league splits is total madness.
The Ports have played almost every midweek since the new year, which affects the players, supporters who cant afford or pick and choose games, which then affects attendances. The clubs are hit hard, and even the oul pitches cant take much more.
Shamrock Park's pitch was rough the other night, looked like the local ploughing competition had started early!

I agree Ronnie maybe the League should keep a window in the first couple of weeks after the new year when either missed games can be replayed or if we have been lucky with the weather the players would get a wee break. Although with the weather extremes we now seem to get we can never be guaranteed that would work. Think its time for all cups to be considered on a straight knockout one of match drawn home or away played to a finish bar the Irish cup which will always be the big one! Sentanta is better now without the league format but maybe its time for the shield to drop out of the calendar for those clubs involved in Sentanta. This will give 'smaller' clubs a serious crack at silverware and the prize fund could be boosted from IFA coffers to cover likely drop in interest from sponsors!
