I think my preferred choice would be McCarthy over Bazunu.

Maccer has a mistake in him (as shown vs Liverpool) and isn’t as good with the ball at his feet, but I think he’s a better shot stopper and over the course of the season that is probably likely to win us more points.

you can look at it either way I think. We should (and have generally so far) be giving up less chances per game, so do you go with the keeper who saves more (McCarthy) but will give away better chances because of his distribution, and these likely lead to goals most of the time no matter who is in goal.

Or go with the guy who will give up less stupid distribution mistakes and hopefully aid in attacking to a degree as well with faster/better distribution, but will let in more of the limited shots he faces?

I’m more in the Bazunu camp due to his age and potential improvement but am not overly fussed either way

It is a fine balancing act. I also think we seem to concede so many ‘perfect’ shots it is unreal. No keeper would save the one yesterday, and I don’t see many keepers saving any of the ones Bazunu has let in. But right now McCarthy gets it for leadership, though I prefer what Bazunu offers over all.

I was all for Bazunu too as he hasn't really done anything wrong in games to be dropped but we only see a couple of hours of the week so if WS felt the change was needed then it's needed and then it's down to McCarthy to keep hold of the spot (and he's not done a bad job so far has he?)

No, the team was quite successful <laugh>

Two good seasons in thirty-odd years.

Won the Salisbury Sunday League Division Two title - and two teams were better than us on paper. So that was good.

Won the Commerical Houses Minnows Cup Final, we knocked out the team that won our division without losing a game all season and I got man of the match in the final and I have it on video too.

So better than Saints really? :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I'd like us to stick with Will Still no matter what happens this season (results wise). Sure we've probably got high expectations, but I wouldn't mind if we don't get promoted this season. Give Still a couple of seasons to get a nice stable team together and then start calling for his head if it doesn't work after that.

The revolving door of managers we've had in recent times surely hasn't helped anything, and if it means staying in the Championship for an extra season to get a team that knows, and likes itself, well that's just fine with me.

I said this last time...I just don't get the obsession with being in the Premier League. I mean it's good when things are going like the Poch/Koeman years but those days are realistically harder and harder to get with each passing season.

Maybe we build a solid foundation with a decent up and coming manager and then when promotion happens, we are not the whipping boys!

Having said that I will be super excited if we get promotion, can't help that feeling you get when it happens, just not sure it's best long term.

Hear it completely, I know I was losing faith very quickly after Hull (definitely overreacted a bit, but my god were we bad <laugh>), but I’d love to see Still given some proper time & totally get that missing out on promotion might benefit us in long run - just look at Leeds now!

Also, the Championship is so much fun and probably my 2 ever fave seasons of supporting Saints are when we’ve promoted from this division! (league one days were v special too though!!)

Feel like im going to keep repeating myself, but I don't see the value in saying Still out ... do any of you realistically think our overlords will appoint someone better? Especially given they've repeatedly failed at this.
