It's still got to be considered unlikely, but hopefully Benitez might be persuaded to sign a 1 year contract extension on the back of the Almiron signing. Other than Rafa's future, the biggest concern post transfer window is Rondon staying fit and healthy. Muto as backup whilst not ideal would be ok, but we all know it would be Joselu stepping in.
Rafa's future can get right to **** if Joselu is considered anymore Strikers in order for me are 1 Rondon 2/3 Muto 2/3 Perez 4 Joselu Realistically Joselu shouldn't EVER play for the club again now we have 2 Strikers and 2 10's bar an absolute injury crisis - would literally need to have 4 players out of Ritchie, Atsu, Kenedy, Almiron, Perez, Muto and Rondon for him to even make the bench and even then I'd consider pushing Yedlin further forwards and selecting Manquillo ahead of him.
23:16 TWO DEAL SHEETS IN! Sky Sports News understands there are TWO deal sheets in with the Premier League... One is Michy Batshuayi to Crystal Palace, he other is not known...We're finding out Come on Messi 2 NUFC
It shows how far we've fallen that we're celebrating this as though we've signed Shearer again. All we did was pay the going rate for a player we needed. We still had to get shot of Murphy to "make room", this is hardly a sweeping statement and I doubt Rafa sees it as such either. We only JUST outspent Bournemouth (Solanke - £18m) and Cardiff (Sala - RIP, and Bacuna). The LWB position is still Rithie's, we're one injury from Joselu leading the line and seeing Manquillo back on the pitch. We definitely can't do it all Jan, but we need 5-6 more urgently in the Summer with at least 3 of those upgrades.
