Theo Walcott: "I had a few opportunities from other clubs, but as soon as Southampton came in for me, it's part of me and has made me into the player I am. It's in my heart. "I will probably cry when I first play. It means so much. "All the people that made it happen, I can't thank them enough. Honestly, I'm so pleased. "I was seriously lost for words when Southampton came on the table, and for me it was such an easy decision."
Happy with that. He'll give his best and that's good enough for me.....Probably from the bench but still.
Who knows what the situation was then? I know he's nowhere near what he once was, but I still like this homecoming.
I recall people reporting that we were very close to a deal but then Everton came in and offered more money, so he went there. I don’t blame him, just seems a bit OTT of a statement when that was, what, 18 months ago? I’m on the fence with the transfer, can see the logic and think he will be motivated here so hopefully it works out well
I think he will be a good option from the bench alongside some of the youngsters. There are still plenty of premiership defences who won’t want to see him warming up at 70 minutes. But practicalities aside, my boys and I loved him as a Saints player, wished him well when he left, and are thrilled to have him back. Our first and overriding requirement is for our players to play with passion and commitment. Suspect we will get that.
