This continues to be classic summer stuff. Early signing, optimism, excitement. Oooh! Ahhh! That's how it always starts. Then later there's running and screaming. I’m hopeful that this is also a boon to Redmond. His decline has mirrored Bertrand’s and, looking at those numbers, I’m wondering if there’s a case to be made that as Bertie has become less of a threat on that side, Redmond has found his job harder. We know that Nate can be a heck of a player when he’s on. I wonder if an additional threat and outlet on the left gives him more opportunity.
That cold be very plausible for Redmonds form, but I think he only had on me pretty good season with us, others were average and others very poor. I expected one of him or Moussa to be moved on this summer, either sold on or loan. If Redmond stays this season, and performs the same as last, I’d expect he will be moved on. What do you think?
Neither of them will be sold this summer. Unless another club is unusually thirsty for them. For a start, the market for them probably won’t be there, which means we wouldn’t be able to afford to replace them. Redmond is a good player for our level right now and not a priority to replace. We’ve got bigger problems in other areas. I really like Moussa. I don’t think that’s a popular opinion. There’s just something I like about his movement and play. He’s a true believer. He’s got talent and works hard. I don’t think he’s been able to put it all together yet, but to suggest it’s time to bin him shows the impatience that is so difficult with football fans sometimes. He’s not really first choice in his position when everyone’s fit. Let’s relax.
I like to see a bit of rotation in that double pivot otherwise we become a bit predictable but generally I agree. Expect Romeu would too.
I don’t really get this, I thought he had a solid season for us. Perfection doesn’t really exist in this game.
Fairy point. I rated Redmond when he 1st joined, and hoping you may be correct in that it didnt work out in the end with Bertrand. I’m still not sure both will be here, each were pretty poor last season. But if they are here next season, we can get right behind them and see how they go...
edit - I know you aren’t expecting perfection, what I mean is I thought his mistakes were few and far between relatively speaking.
Yep, spot on - he has not performed as well as he has done previously, and maybe playing as a RB for a number of games affected him. New season new chance, but i totally get why you may not have as much confidence in him.
As some have mentioned on here, fans can be impatient. In the case of Redmond, mine is exhausted, as a No.10 or as a striker, for me, it's irrelevant. We carry him almost every game.
Let's hope the stats translate onto the pitch for us. I remembers seeing one of these charts when Lallana departed and Tadic came in. they were spot on and he was a massive upgrade.
