They’re still working because they’re professional football players, who don’t want to be relegated. That doesn’t necessarily mean they believe in him and his methods. I’d suggest the body language, if not the effort levels, against Forest would quite strongly suggest that.
I think you are seeing something that isnt there because you want everything to be Jones fault and to be able to further criticise him. The performance against Forest wasn't because the players haven't bought in or dont care, it was the way Jones set us up to play. So yeah, still his fault but there has been no evidence to suggest the dressing room is against him.
if the dressing room doesn’t have doubts about him they are the only 15 people on the planet. There barely a fan reporter or pundit who hasnt said the same things. can only hope he settles down and finds his mojo.
They are also the only 15 people (+coaches) who may also see what Nathan Jones sees. I've said before and will say again, this is not how Jones set his team up at Luton. I am clinging on to the hope that Jones has only done this as he has another system in mind but will need new players to implement it and we will see a change as the board bring in new recruits. If I am wrong then we are completely ****ed but at the moment, I think that is our only hope!
It takes a very brave person to put their head above the parapet and call out the manager. Im not saying they’re all yes men, but they may all have their doubts but don’t want to rock the boat.
You may be right, and they may not be ‘against him’, but there was plenty to suggest that they had no idea what he was wanting from them.
Can agree with that, other than the back 3 were pretty clear that he wanted them hitting it long to our 5'10 target man I'm in no way defending Jones, he has been dreadful. Im just trying to offer some sort of possible explanation behind his bizarre tactics and a little hope that things could change after the transfer window.
100% this. We have had managers out of their depth before and we will again. Players just don't become inferior as individuals because of this. Given the nature of football as a profession, players need to broadly play well constantly or their next contract will not be what they desire. But unless Jones stops with the dreadful longball ****e, and bloody soon at that, he won't be in favour with most of our fanbase. The decline is noticeable. The squad isn't great, but they performed better under Ralph.
I watched Jones very carefully at the end of the game today and there was clear affection from a number of players towards him. I think he is getting the players on side and I’m hopeful he can turn this around (ever the optimist despite what I’ve seen played during the few games before this one)
