A lot of reports linking Bednarek away, ABK is a write off, which leaves Stephens as the only centre back with any serious experience and he isn’t very good and not a healthy influence on the squad. Will Still sounds like quite a defensive coach, so the set-up might be healthier for younger defensive players, but considering our over reliance on young players proving our downfall, it’s not really a signing that feels like a serious game changer for the new season.
I personally don’t think we need any new experienced defenders, we now have a 32 year old manager who will base his opinions from quality & skill over experience I think. Having just seen a Chelsea squad that is the youngest in the Premier League qualify for Champions League and win the Europa Conference I think with Still at the helm we would be good to keep it youthful, energetic and hungry all fighting for their place on the starting XI - excited by this signing and would like to see us keep THB as an experienced championship option
You can accuse Jack of many things, but I think saying that he’s not a healthy influence on the squad is really harsh.
We severely lack physicality so I think this is a great step in the right direction. He is also young but with plenty of experience and well thought of in the German youth set up. And for £3m and you can't go too far wrong anyway.
His name almost rhymes but not quite. Not much of a future here if that's the best the recruitment department can come up with. A poor man's Will Still.
Unlike other recent signings he at least looks happy to be here. Some of the other announcement videos look like kidnapping ransoms. Welcome to the club lad, hope you ****ing smash it
