On the one hand, I think it's just very easy for a lazy journalist/newspaper. On the other hand, the transfer strategy of both clubs is so scattergun and questionable, that they conceivably could be in for anyone and everyone. And then they just stand back the day after the window shuts, and look back at what they've got. No CBs, No LMs, five AMs, and twenty-seven RBs.
Ryan Shawcross was never the quickest CB for Stoke - whether as part of a two or a three. And up until the last year or two - now that he's hit 30 - that wasn't a huge issue. Vestergaard is roughly the same age as Shawcross was when Hughes took over at Stoke (albeit obviously without the experience/knowledge of the club and the PL).
Yeah, these beauties.... https://thedanishconnection.com.au/...awnee-mens-cork-sandals?variant=5134855634980
Right so that's a CB, a CM and a wide Forward...just get the back up GK sorted and we are good to go.
The pieces falling into place. Hope he finds his feet wuick in the EPL. Going to be a good signing I think.
I wonder if we're still in for Marlon. If so, that is back-up RB covered too (as well as additional CB cover - maybe leading to Stephens going out on loan for a year). I would still be after an out-and-out striker, and another wide player. Especially with Boufal appearing to be on his way out. Not that they're like-for-like replacements, but that would leave us with: ?? - Forster Vestergaard - Virgil (6 months later) Marlon - Pied Armstrong - Davis Elyounoussi - Tadic ?? - Boufal ?? - Carillio
We've lost Tadic, Carillo and maybe Boufal. I expect a backup GK, an attacking player and a striker still to come in. Unless we see Gallagher/Hesketh as good enough.
We have been linked with Ings and maybe they might see Sims as a natural Boufal replacement, The back up GK is quite a big one for me, the thought of Alex getting injured fills me with dread atm.
I think that Sims and Hesketh deserve a shot, if they don't breakthrough this season it's doubtful if they ever will here.
That's fair, but I think we were a quality attacking player short last season so would rather they fight to get fit and be on the bench for us this season.
I thought the City keeper; Gunn was coming in as FF replacement. I also saw somewhere where Hughes said they want a striker - if not Hughes then someone else close - cant recall exactly.
