Just like watching England but without the talented players. Should Martin be Southgare's replacement?
Spent a lot of time on the bench, berated by their self entitled fans and is further away from the England squad than he was when with us. Only his bank balance has been a success
Didn't JWP score direct from a corner for Spam, which isn't classed as a free kick? So he still retains his 'dead ball' skills, although he hasn't got any closer to Beckham's record.
In terms of stats, he started last season off really strongly for them, with a few goals and many assists, but then (on paper) it all started to dry up after that.
In 23/34 Ward-Prowse played 37 games and got 7 goals and 7 assists. 22/23 was 38 games, 9 goals, 4 assists 21/22 was 38 games, 10 goals, 5 assists 20/21 was 38 games, 8 goals, 7 assists Overall that seems like a fairly standard season for him really. And I think he had a few little runs for us where he got 4 in 5 games or something so some inconsistency across the season doesn't feel that unusual.
I completely agree, and thanks for digging up those stats. I think JWP’s main problem as far as the West Ham fans goes is that he isn’t Declan Rice.
West Ham presumably have different expectations. Especially as he had a real flying start. I think a disproportionate chunk of those goals and assists happened in the very beginning of the season
Yeah, which is why I mentioned remembering short purple patches from him when he was here. If he'd had a good run at the end of the season or in the middle that might have been looked at differently.
