I'm fine with the lack of a purchase clause. Would be nice, but if we get promoted he'll still be blocked at West Ham. Have to imagine that he would be plenty signable.
Look at West Hams pervious big money signings - Haller, Felipe Anderson or Scammaca. All came and went very quickly. The same could well happen to either Jwp or Alvarez. Plus Downes could have an incredible season and at 5 years younger than JWP, West Ham may think of the future. Or a new manager might prefer a player like downes due to playing style. It really is impossible to predict what things will look like this time next season when there are so many variables.
He might be totally **** He might be an absolute legend. I reckon we're going to absolutely love him. Probably have a stand named after him by 2024.
Seems the perfect type of player for us, in the way that JWP is the perfect type of player for West Ham.
I'm a bit worried about this one. In all the articles about Downes, nowhere is there any mention of backwards or sideways passing.
I fully expect Flynn to open his locker at Staplewood for the first time to find it full of bog rolls.
Pro's and cons Pro's Experienced DM at this level Good age Seems a great character Strong passer Will suit our style Played under our coaches before Will likely get better A position we needed to strengthen Cons An obligation to buy would havebeen great thereis not a single bird, fish or cheese pun to be had
Pompey's watching Downes, with no money in the bank... No money in the bank... No money in the bank...
